A warming winter ale that blends the spices of the season with sweet caramel malt. Orange peel, juniper berries, ginger root, cardamom and cloves are added to spiciness.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark ruby body with a small fizzy off-white head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is a full on Christmas spice assault, heavy nutmeg and cinnamon for the most part. Orange peel, clove, and a light pine tree note as well. The flavor is super spicy as well with a base maltiness thatís slightly sweet and toasty with a bit of graininess. The dominant spice in the flavor is a tie between cinnamon and clove. Finishes with a spicy and slightly sweet lingering maltiness. No real indication that this is in the 8% ABV range. Medium bodied with a slight stickiness, fizzy moderate carbonation. Canít get into this one too much, itís just a little too heavy on the spicing for my tastes.

This is quite pleasant, but this brewery seems to give me that impression all the time. Pours amber darker and deeper in the middle and golden on the outside with a beige head. The aroma brings sweet cloves balanced well maybe some honey notes after. Flavor starts out with nice Christmas spice and sweetness, cloves and almost hints of ginger, but the sweetness drops and brings and the spices remain settling pleasantly o the palate with an amber malty character.

1/7/2014. On tap. Dark amber color with an off-white head. Spicy aromas with malt, caramel and hops. Flavors are mostly spice, but very nice for this time of year. Bitter hops on the finish.

2012 edition moderated the spices to balance. Deep golden-orange with lasting head. Good drinkability, with carbonation off a bit. Lacy.

Bottle into pint glass, clear rich ruby-copper color with light tan head. Aroma of Christmas spices (clove, cinnamon, nutmeg) and caramel malt. Taste seems richer then the aroma adding notes of toffee, orange peel and a nice overall fruitiness (citrus, berries). Medium body, low carbonation, soft, oily with lingering roast/spice finish. Nice rich yet balanced Christmas beer.

Bottle->small tumbler. Cloudy medium brown with offwhite head. Tons of Christmas spices overpowering the malt and grasses underneath. A mess.

Pours a semi-clear brownish color. Aroma of Christmas - cloves, spices. Tastes sweet, the malty caramel taste but with some hop bitterness. This is a good winter beer. Gets too sweet for me as it warms though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ar: Rich toffee and treacle - mulling spices, clove, black pepper. Ap: Deep chestnut, clear - medium off-white head with poor retention, leaves a solid ring of foam and a wisp of covering. T: Deep, roasted caramel - toffee, molasses, cinnamon - bread pudding - sweet, with a backbone of clean alcohol - low bitterness, finishes with raisins and cinnamon. P: Medium body with medium-high carbonation - finish is medium-dry. O: Very nice spiced winter warmer - lots of burnt sugar, dark fruits, and spices, all in good balance.
