3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Brewers. Burnt orange with somewhat disappointing aroma (old bottle). Some breadiness mixed with light bitter citrus flavor. Aftertaste is a little bitter and dry. A nice, but forgettable offering.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle from a sampler pack. Pours an interesting sediment-particle-filled orange body with a thumbnail of white head that recedes within 30 seconds. Tight, sifting lace. Very clean aroma of resinous hops. The flavor is also clean and well-balanced between piney, floral hops and caramel, bread-like malt backbone. Hints of citrus and just a touch of herb. Medium carbonation and medium/full body. Now THIS is more like it! Much better than their pale ale I just tried.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle dated 1/5/15 poured into a pint glass. I will keep in mind that itís slightly old at this point when reviewing. The beer pours a somewhat hazy golden orange with an inch or so of tan head that shrinks down a bit and leaves real nice lacing. Aroma is grassy hops, bready malts mostly. It reminds me more of a pilsner, but than again, the beer is a bit old. On to taste. Right away there is a bit of hop bitterness and bright citrus flavors. They are quickly met with a heavy malt backbone with tons of bread and biscuit notes, as well as some traces of toffee. The beer was easy to drink and I could have a few more. Overall not too bad, especially considering the age.

Pours a hazy orange. Has a nice aroma and a good hoppy flavor. Nice to have every now and then.

A score of 91? Mine must be old? Too one-dimensional with lots of hops citrus rind and pine resin and bitterness, but thereís no malt character to back it up. Not terrible, like most Schlafly beers, but not exactly good.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A hazed golden amber ale with a thick frothy white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with grassy floral hops, light oxidation, OK. In mouth, a nice biscuit malt with citrusy floral hops, pink grapefruit, still solid after a few years.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Johnís Restaurant & Tavern in Winfield, IL., dispensed to a shaker showing a hazed, orangey gold hue, with a meringue-like layer of cream colored head foam, and curtainy cling to the lacing. The aroma was initially cloaked by the persistent froth, but gradually revealed a nose that wasnít altogether fresh, but very dank & stinky, followed by citrus as grapefruit, and some resinous notes. Medium+ bodied, with decent carbonation, the taste also presented some malt sweetness, and like creaminess to the mouthfeel. The hop influence was strong, citrus & rind astringency that lingered well past the empty glass, and a full serving of water. A hearty APA whose bitterness rivaled many DIPAs that Iíve sampled.

Amber with a cream head. Nose is fruity hops, sticky, florals, and bright. Great palate, fruity hops, sticky palate, smooth, and a easy finish

On tap at lambert international airport. Good bitter hoppy pale ale with the only sweetness coming through right up front. The rest of each sip and aftertaste is dominated by hop bitterness. I really liked this one.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
In my beer drinking Iíve came a long way and these malty style APAís donít cut it anymore. This one has a strong and distinct malty backing and finish. Not enough hops for a dry hopped ale for me. Kind of let down by this one.
