3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ar: Mossy, slight black tea - notes of wood and some clean cracker malt.
Ap: Orange and hazy - medium white head with good retention, leaves some lacing, suds, and a patchy cap of foam.
T: Solid toasted malt, but fairly low sweetness - hops are lemon and wood bark - bitterness is high, clean up front but leaves a bit of a tannic finish - esters are pineapple and pear - some minerality, fairly crisp.
P: Medium-light body with high carbonation - finish is dry.
O: Nice English IPA - solid malt backbone without much sweetness or caramel - hops are bright and bitterness is firm.

Hazy goled orange with a lot of tiny floaties. The aroma has eatthy pepper and lemony citrus notes. The flavor adds sweet malt but retains the same hop character. Nice if you like English hops, which I do.

Bottle. Simply put, I enjoy this a lot more than the last few years of XIPA. It has a much cleaner and lighter malt presence and a crisper and more citrus hops presence. More like the very old version of XIPA than the recent ones.

Draft... RBSG 2014... Clear amber pour with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The bouquet is a malty, floral melange of toffee, citrus blossoms, white and pink peppercorns, and honey. Full-bodied with dancing carbonation. The flavor is dominated by a shit-ton of tannic and metallic hop bitterness. Unlike the aroma, there is no sign of residual sugar or maltiness here. A lengthy, bitter finish leaves me with a slightly buttery aftertaste.

On draft at Whole Foods. Pours a clear deep golden with active sudsy head that settled to thin lacing. Aroma is mild: faint hops and citrus with lemon notes. Flavor is solid IPA with hops and tropical fruit, pineapple noticeably. Active carbonation, medium bodied, sweet finish. Nicely done.

Sample at the brewery Saturday morning of SRBG 2014. Comes a clear golden orange with a decent off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, and malt. Taste is grapefruit, lemon, pine, caramel malt, and some floral. Pretty good.

Pours a deep orange with moderate beige head. The presence of European hops instead of NW US is evident. The brew is just a bit too sweet, malty for my tastes in an IPA. Nice offering, but prefer others of Schafly

On tap @ Schlafly. Orange pour with a white head. Earthy hops, some bread, and a lot of caramel. Hint of butterscotch, some grass, and a very nutty malt character. Flavor is on the sweet side. Lots of caramel and butterscotch. Fairly toasty, too. Big earthy and floral hop notes. Light bitterness. Fairly buttery.
