COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This full-bodied traditional English-style ale is brewed with a high gravity and extra hops, which originally helped to preserve the beer on long voyages from England to India.

Cask at Rattle n Hum. Pours a nice orange-yellow with soft, pillowy white head. Mild aroma of earthy hops and some malts. Hops have mellowed a bit in the flavor, giving this beer an almost Pale Ale character. Medium body with light carbonation. Finishes with just touches of fruity bitterness and caramel malts. Pretty smooth and tasty.

12oz, bottled 3/24/10. Medium off-white head that mostly dissipates atop clear light amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange/grapefruit, some honey. Taste is moderately sweet, pine/pineapple, some honey, orange, alcohol warming. Sticky medium-full body. With this much alcohol evident, seems more like an IIPA.

Bottle from Acknud just arrived. Came cool enough to drink! Slightly hazy amber gold color with a multifinger off-white head (Sam Adams glass). Lots of floral and citric aroma. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is light stone fruit, followed by a little citrus, followed by some malt. Finish is mostly dry, and remains fruity. Bottle dated 04/22/2008. If youíre holding, donít worry, cause itís holding well. Itís one of those floral beers that makes me think ESB. Hoppy ESB. I was just thinking that itís my kind of light beer, and then I noticed the 8%! No wonder itís my kind of light beer. And it drinks like 5%. Could be deadly in the wrong hands.

Bottle received via trade with drmatt. Pours hazy amber with a spare, fizzy, off-white head, somewhat diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is light malt (cereal, meal), heavy hops (pine, resin, grapefruit), light yeast (sweat) with notes of peaches and apricot. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and heavy bitterness.

Bottle... Hazy tangerine-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Excellent retention. Very subtle nose... I could only pull notes of grapefruit and dusty, woodsy hops. Good crystal malt foundation for generous, almost heavily bitter hopping. Tannic notes of grapefruit pith override lesser notes of gooey, sweet caramel. Full-bodied with a lightly oily mouthfeel and understated carbonation. Lengthy, tongue-numbing, moderately bitter finish. Big-Time thanks to vyvvy for sending this rarity my way!
