omhper (10438), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 7, 2003 Bottled. Pale yellow, cloudy. Glue aroma. Yeasty sweet and bold with some acidity and not much else. Que? CaptainCougar (4633), Rockville, Maryland, USA Feb 28, 2003 Updated: Nov 22, 2007(11/21/07)(5,4,5,4,11) Cloudy pale yellow golden appearance with a well-lacing white head. Aroma of grainy husks and a touch of earthy noble hops. Body starts semi-sweet, fairly full and grainy with some musty doughy flavors. A fairly interesting concept, but this would be much better with a true hefeweizen yeast strain.
(2/28/03) (6,4,7,4,13) Pour is a fizzy cloudy yellow with a thin lacey head. Light citrus nose. Flavor is mellow with some lemon and wheat malt sweetness. Semi-tart finish rounds out a tasty, but uninspired brew.
(6/2/03) (6,3,5,3,10) Pours a cloudy golden with a very fast fading head. Aroma resembles that of its German counterparts, but is not quite there. Body is too sour and could really use some balance. Also tastes watered-down. hopscotch (4460), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 11, 2004 Updated: Oct 15, 2004This is a fairly nondescript, fizzy ale. Not offensive. Would probably enjoy this one more sometime in July or August rather than on a cool, overcast, October day. Perfectly balanced. Short, crisp, clean finish. Refreshing as the style dictates. Just not my thing. muzzlehatch (4425), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jul 15, 2004 Sample at the Taproom. Very light, cloudy...banana-caramel, malty nose, quite nice...fairly bland on the tongue though. Still, well put-together, as all the Schlaflys seem to be. chris_o (4405), London, Greater London, England Dec 27, 2004 Bottled at the DC gathering. Not too impressed with this one. Vaguely hazy gold colour. Not much in the aroma. Certainly I didn’t pick up any significant banana or estery notes. Just a hint of spice, but it’s all a bit dull. The flavour is citric and rather sharp. Moderately refreshing, but not very interesting.
