A Munich Style Helles. Golden and medium-bodied, it has a fresh noble hop character and lightly toasted malt flavor. This classic summer time lager is made for the warm, lazy days of Summer in America’s heartland.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of phaleslu. Thanks! Bottled 7/13/10. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a medium frothy offwhite head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts with a bit of grassiness. The taste is grassy hops with a sweet malty finish. Thin-medium bodied. Seems fairly generic.

Sample at Bigelo’s Bistro in Edwardsville, IL. The beer is a clear pale yellow color with a medium white head that recedes slowly. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Bready malt and mild hops in the nose. Light and clean body with flavors of biscuity malt, grain, hops and some fruit. The finish is malty with a short mildly hopped aftertaste. Average overall.

Tap. Mostly clear straw with small white head. Aroma is light malt and faint floral hop. Easy drinking with a light biscuit malt finish. Also notes of yeast. Pretty standard lager.

Bottled 05/21/2010. Dusty yeast nose, lovely bright pale malt (and possibly some Munich, though the color disagrees) with a lot of spring in its step. Very bright yellow pour, clear and clean with a soapy white head. Taste is lightly sweet malt with sharp mineral notes and restrained noble hops. Very faint toasty malt along with the pale citrus, and a light chalky note toward the back. Medium body comes off as light as well. Refreshing and surprisingly good, has enough balance and friendliness for me to want to drink a sixer or two of this over a week.

Draft at BB’s in St. Louis. From a tap marked "Schlafly Summer Lager." Pours a clear gold with plenty of visible carbonation and a small white head. Aroma of pale malts, herbal hops, sweet crackers, straw, and grains. Flavor follows suit pretty closely, maybe a touch of honey and grass along with the other notes. Light-bodied with crisp carbonation. Cold, crisp, refreshing- good summer lager, as advertised.

Clouded yellow pour with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet, a little malt. Flavor is light, refreshing to the palate- malty, medium carbonation, a little sweet. Nice balance- I’d drink this one again.

12oz., bottled on 4/19/10. Clean malt aroma, bready, with notes of biscuit and very light sweetness, showing a hint of lemon citrus in the background. Clear light golden yellow color with a fine head that lasts. Flavor is nicely balanced and refreshing, with lightly grainy, crackery malts, faintly spicy, herbal hop and a moderate dosage of bitterness, finishing with a pale malty accent. Palate is thin, crisp and moderately effervescent, body is fairly light. Very easy drinking lager as advertised, and seems to be a decent example of the style. Good for consuming immediately out of the fridge.
