Bottled, labeled as "Helles-style Summer Lager." Clear straw colored with a decent off-white head. Head is mostly diminishing, but leaves thin lacing. Biscuity aroma with a bit of lemon peel. Flavor is dried grains, some citric sweet/sourness, and a somewhat medicinal and chalky finish. Carbonation level was a bit off, left a funny feeling on my tongue almost like a scraped my fingernail across it - weird. Thanks for the bottle, Narnad.

Pours crystal clear light yellow with a pillowy white head. The aroma has some spicy hops, graininess, very light lager malt with minimal toast and a touch of bread. Light mildly grainy body with gentle carbonation. The flavor starts with a moderate malt bill, lager yeast and some spicy hops. The finish has some grassy hops. This is a clean easy-drinking summer beer. Nothing fancy, but enjoyable.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours golden with a good sized white head. The aroma has pale malt, spicy hops and light corn. The body is light and crisp along with being heavily grainy with light sharp carbonation. The flavor starts with smooth lightly toasted pale malt and some spice. The body gets fuller and grainier on the finish as well as adding a bit more spice. A fairly simple tasting beer, but a nice refreshing summer beer.

Bottle. Pourerd a golden color with a decent sized white head. Aroma was mostly malts with some yeast and bread coming through. Flavor was citrus and yeast, some bitter aftertaste. Very drinkable and smooth. Better then some summer beers, still not the best.

Honey gold with a nice, almost white head. Aroma is wood with some light malt. Flavor has some rice, wood, malt. Grainy. A nice lager if a bit non-descript.

Pour is a straw looking yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma is grassy with some bready malts. Flavor is again some bready malts but to a lesser degree. Not made to impress but made to quench in the heat. Reminds me of some eastern euro lagers.

12oz bottle poured into an English pint. I thought this would be the same beer as their previous Helles but wxman seems to think otherwise. I’ll go with his assessment. Schlafly Summer Lager pours yellow and clean with a smallish head. It appears to be a nice mild summertime brew. The nose has grass and lemon in it and that typical lager mineral water smell. The palate is light, crisp and a touch watery. The taste is very generic for the style. It doesn’t have a rich grain bill or a rice aftertaste. It is a very simple beer that appears to be well done. This is a thirst quencher that won’t surprise or inspire you but is nicely done all the same.

A solid effort. Would really satisfy after a hot summer day. I’m drinking on a particularly hot day in mid April in Michigan (over 80 degrees). Worth giving it a try.

Crisp lager with a bit of perfume/floral aroma. I am not a lager/helles person, but it is ok.

Grassy aroma with some lemon. Golden wheat appearance with a small white head. Flavor is full of grass and some lemon as well. Palate is not distinct, small hop presence. Aright, but nothing to call home about.
