A Munich Style Helles. Golden and medium-bodied, it has a fresh noble hop character and lightly toasted malt flavor. This classic summer time lager is made for the warm, lazy days of Summer in America’s heartland.

Can - under the Schlafly Summer Lager moniker. Translucent gold with a tall, fluffy white head. Aroma is powdery malt, lemon, grains and grassy hops. Taste is sweet malt, grains, lemon zest, light grass and faint honey. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Ends with big sweet malts, and grains, grassy hops, light lemon, a touch stronger note of honey, straw, and some biscuit. Nice summer beer!

It is what it is. Probably great on a hot ass day. More hop content than a a pilsner but lacks the body it needs to enhance and properly exhibit the ingredients that help form it’s taste profile.

On tap at the brewpub in August 2009. Pours a straw yellow with a thin white head; not much in the way of lacing as it goes down. The smell is a bit of grassy malt with a tiny bit of sweetness. There is some citrus in there as well; this comes out a little bit in the taste along with some Noble hops. The mouthfeel is light-medium with moderate carbonation. This was very refreshing on a hot summer’s day. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 10-04-2009

Out of a bottle dated 3-18-10. Pale golden beer with a thin white head. Light buscuit and lemon grass nose. Flavors of light toast, grass, bitter orange and lemon zest. Seems like a very servicable summer thirst quencher.

12oz bottle, baby-blue colored label. Clear and very bright yellow. Malted cereal aroma. Lots of straw in the nose. Light pale malts flavor, a touch of green barley and grass. Finishes with a touch of lemon zest. Thin bodied but very flavorful. This is a the ultimate Summer Brew! Noticeably different from the Kölsch and the Pilsener. Bottled on 07_26_2009

Grassy aroma with some lemon. Golden wheat appearance with a small white head. Flavor is full of grass and some lemon as well. Palate is not distinct, small hop presence. Aright, but nothing to call home about.

12 bottle, about a month old 2010 bottling, labeled Helles Style Summery Lager: Pours a clear, pale yellow with a large bubbled, quickly diminishing starchy white head that is fed by and large handful of slow tiny bubbles. Grassy aroma, with lightly floral straw and orange melon rind. Lively mouthfeel without being fizzy - well done! Flavours are light and fresh - cereal malts, with just a hint of toast. This beer goes very well with the hellasious humidity that is St. Louis in the summer - just make sure it is super fresh (a month is pushing it) and nicely chilled! An incredibly tough style to bottle and get to market fresh - high praise to the brewers!

12 ounce bottle courtesy of phaleslu. Thanks! Bottled 7/13/10. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a medium frothy offwhite head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malts with a bit of grassiness. The taste is grassy hops with a sweet malty finish. Thin-medium bodied. Seems fairly generic.
