A Munich Style Helles. Golden and medium-bodied, it has a fresh noble hop character and lightly toasted malt flavor. This classic summer time lager is made for the warm, lazy days of Summer in America’s heartland.

Pours clear golden with a sizable white head. Smells of mild toffee or biscuit with some spicy hops. Taste is mild sweet and mild spicy bitter. Light-bodied with a slick texture and average mouth-carbonation, Schlafly Summer Lager Helles finishes clean.

Sampled on draft at the Tap Room, STL. The best helles I’ve yet to drink. Pours brilliant gold with great head and lace. A wonderful saaz aroma! Flavor is balanced, if not faintly bitter, with an almost pilsner-like noble hop addition. The malt profile is uniform, but quite sophisitcated (decoction mashing?). Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated. A wonderful beer from one of my less favorite styles.

12 bottle, about a month old 2010 bottling, labeled Helles Style Summery Lager: Pours a clear, pale yellow with a large bubbled, quickly diminishing starchy white head that is fed by and large handful of slow tiny bubbles. Grassy aroma, with lightly floral straw and orange melon rind. Lively mouthfeel without being fizzy - well done! Flavours are light and fresh - cereal malts, with just a hint of toast. This beer goes very well with the hellasious humidity that is St. Louis in the summer - just make sure it is super fresh (a month is pushing it) and nicely chilled! An incredibly tough style to bottle and get to market fresh - high praise to the brewers!

Good lacing and clear gold color. No aroma and a nutty light flavor. Easy beer to drink on a hot summer day.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste lemon, crisp, wheat. I thought this was pretty good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: soft, clear gold with a one-finger white head and lots of frothy lace. Aroma: grains, buttered toast, mild aroma of grass and hay and citrus. Taste: cereal, hint of honey, bit of grassy hops, hint of lemon. Finish: extremely crisp, with almost mineral-like tones quickly giving way to slightly sweet crackery malts. Notes: Outstanding summer session lager. This is a really, really good summer beer. Palate is smooth, light, crisp and refreshing. Well done.

This is a great brew for people wanting to step up from the traditional garbage they buy at Walmart, gas stations and other dumps. Very light, but delivers a lot of flavor. Classic brew, much better than anything your average beer friends have ever tried.

Ar: Crisp cracker-like malt - a touch of sulfur, herbal. Ap: Straw-gold, crystal-clear - large white head with very good retention, settles into lumpy white hills. T: Minerally and malty up front - fresh dough and crackers - some mossy hop flavor, and even a touch of lemon - extremely clean. P: Light body with high carbonation - finish is very dry. O: Delicious, crisp, and malty helles - extremely refreshing and clean.
