Poured a medium and clear orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of floral hopes, pine, and citrus. Nice and hoppy! Tastes of pine, grapefruit, floral hops, and some caramel. A very nice IPA! IrishBoy (2159), Bakersfield, California, USA Nov 16, 2007 Growler from xmarcnolanx; Nose pretty hoppy with floral, pine, and a hint of vanilla; clear orange with a medium, long-lasting, glass-lacing off-white head; flavor of mild hop bitterness, with lots of caramel malts and a little hops for the finish. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Oct 30, 2007 On-tap at the Taproom, served in a Schlafly Imperial Pint Glass. The bartender didn’t know the ABV and couldn’t find anyone who did.
Poured an unfiltered hazy bright golden hued orange with a nice tight, bubbly topped, foamy white head, excellent retention, slowly receded into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of ringed sticking.
Good Cascades hop aroma, orange blossoms and grapefruit juice, traces of pine needles at the edges. Light backing from caramel grainy malts.
Enough carbonation to give this a fresh crisp feel, smooth creamy, yet firm medium body, well rounded in the palate. Wonderfully hopped, a great use of Cascades hops, restrained rolling bitterness that slowly numbs the tastebuds. Fresh green pine needles, oily grapefruit, candied oranges and lemons, there is plenty of hop flavors swirling around in the mouth. The proper malt backing, toasted grains and sugary caramelized sweetness, the malts really intensified the candied sweetness of the hops flavors. Finishes sweet and dry, a mix of pale sugary malts and candied, slightly sour, hops.
The drinkability on this seasonal IPA from Schlafly is too easy, one that is fun to spend the night with.
krysztofar (267), belleville, Illinois, USA Oct 27, 2007 Updated: Nov 1, 2007sampled at the tap room. bronze in color with a well formed head. loads of extremely fresh citric hops all over the nose. big tangy grapefruit upfront, clearly a butt-load of hops in this batch. and talk about balance! this is excellent. all the hops a guy could want without overdoing it. plenty of fine grainy malt flavor to support the hop presence. i would give a lot to have this all year.
