Growler from xmarcnolanx; Nose pretty hoppy with floral, pine, and a hint of vanilla; clear orange with a medium, long-lasting, glass-lacing off-white head; flavor of mild hop bitterness, with lots of caramel malts and a little hops for the finish.

On-tap at the Taproom, served in a Schlafly Imperial Pint Glass. The bartender didn’t know the ABV and couldn’t find anyone who did. Poured an unfiltered hazy bright golden hued orange with a nice tight, bubbly topped, foamy white head, excellent retention, slowly receded into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of ringed sticking. Good Cascades hop aroma, orange blossoms and grapefruit juice, traces of pine needles at the edges. Light backing from caramel grainy malts. Enough carbonation to give this a fresh crisp feel, smooth creamy, yet firm medium body, well rounded in the palate. Wonderfully hopped, a great use of Cascades hops, restrained rolling bitterness that slowly numbs the tastebuds. Fresh green pine needles, oily grapefruit, candied oranges and lemons, there is plenty of hop flavors swirling around in the mouth. The proper malt backing, toasted grains and sugary caramelized sweetness, the malts really intensified the candied sweetness of the hops flavors. Finishes sweet and dry, a mix of pale sugary malts and candied, slightly sour, hops. The drinkability on this seasonal IPA from Schlafly is too easy, one that is fun to spend the night with.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2007 sampled at the tap room. bronze in color with a well formed head. loads of extremely fresh citric hops all over the nose. big tangy grapefruit upfront, clearly a butt-load of hops in this batch. and talk about balance! this is excellent. all the hops a guy could want without overdoing it. plenty of fine grainy malt flavor to support the hop presence. i would give a lot to have this all year.

on tap at the taproom. um...hoppy...very hoppy. this was very nice feels prickly in my mouth, almost sticky in resiny piney taste. is it possible that this has too much hops in it or is it just a kick ass ipa?

this year’s edition is awesome. nice fruit candy nose. much the same on the taste. this is one of the best fresh, draft ipa’s that i have ever had. this year they use fresh simcoe hops. very nice beer, too bad it only last for a few weeks around here.

UPDATED: NOV 10, 2007 Yummy. Very, very nice dank aroma of wet hops. Taste is a little lacking compared to the fabulous aroma. But finishes very smooth, almost no residual bitterness making it very drinkable. Great! Please, please bottle this next year.

I got this one for my kegerator just going by the name. I was not disappointed. Citrus notes flowing through the hoppy overtones to a well-balanced full finish. Very drinkable session brew.

On draft from the Tap Room. Deep bronze amber hue. All hops in the nose. Citrusy Cascades. Medium bodied and dry. Sticky and cloying. The piney resinous hop flavor melds well with the abundant citrusy aroma and palate. Solid IPA!

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Poured a nice shade of orange with a white head. Aroma was Cascade hops - some floral, dry grapefruit and pine. Mouthfeel was full for an IPA with just a little carbonation. The taste was hoppy as expected. There is a little bit of malt around, but it is the hops that shine through. Lots of hops, but not overpowering - much of what was on the aroma. The finish had a tingling sensation with a mixture of the piney hops and the carbonation. A very nice version of the style. <P> rerate notes: The 2007 version is amazing. Lots of Simcoe coming through. Gentle, but assertive. Incredibly drinkable and no real flaws. The tap and cask are distinctively different, but both are wonderful. The cask has a fuller body and more pleasing harshness to the hop aspects. The tap version has an out-of-this-world hoppy aroma and dank as crap hop flavor. Best version yet.

Pour is a copper color with a white fluffy head. Aroma is hoppy but very faint. Flavor is a nice mix of hops and malts but again something is not right here. Much to watery and thin, Not a good IPA.
