On draft from the Tap Room. Deep bronze amber hue. All hops in the nose. Citrusy Cascades. Medium bodied and dry. Sticky and cloying. The piney resinous hop flavor melds well with the abundant citrusy aroma and palate. Solid IPA!

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Poured a nice shade of orange with a white head. Aroma was Cascade hops - some floral, dry grapefruit and pine. Mouthfeel was full for an IPA with just a little carbonation. The taste was hoppy as expected. There is a little bit of malt around, but it is the hops that shine through. Lots of hops, but not overpowering - much of what was on the aroma. The finish had a tingling sensation with a mixture of the piney hops and the carbonation. A very nice version of the style. <P> rerate notes: The 2007 version is amazing. Lots of Simcoe coming through. Gentle, but assertive. Incredibly drinkable and no real flaws. The tap and cask are distinctively different, but both are wonderful. The cask has a fuller body and more pleasing harshness to the hop aspects. The tap version has an out-of-this-world hoppy aroma and dank as crap hop flavor. Best version yet.

Pour is a copper color with a white fluffy head. Aroma is hoppy but very faint. Flavor is a nice mix of hops and malts but again something is not right here. Much to watery and thin, Not a good IPA.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Drew (2413) - Kent, Ohio, USA - NOV 21, 2005
This is a deliciously grapefruit juicy refreshingly hoppy pint of brew. Mostly clear deep orange color. Aroma is citrus peel with hints of pine. What malt there is is sweet like crystal sugar and then nothing but hop - starting off a little like tree sap at the front of the tongue and gaining its grapefruit zing as it flows down the throat. Tasting it at the pub with Eric, Seth and friends made it even more enjoyable.

first off i did not rate this as any stylle, but the staff told me it was an APA with fresh hops not an ipa. which after i looked over the notes i took i agree this is not an IPA. o.k. it pours a nice tan with a creamy white head that looks like it is nitro pushed but i know it is not. an interesting lack of an aroma that is anything but forward. a touch of fruit that is all, nothing to experience here folks, lets keep moving. a bitter straw flavor that is like a superbly watered down IPA with some extra grass in the finish, this is disappointing, yet somehow refreshing.

Enjoyed on draft at The Tap Room. Appearance is a dark yellow (or bright amber) with a robust white head leaving plenty of lacing on the glass as you drink. Floral hop aroma in tandem with sweet malt. Distinctive Cascade hop taste/bitterness up front along with malty sweetness. Yes, the citrusy flavor of grapefruit is there also as others have noted along with the earthy taste of yeast. Refreshing and delicious. Another Schlafly victory!

Pours an amber/gold, with a medium "rocky" head and great lace. Aroma is sweet citrus with a bit’o’honey. Flavor is like toast dipped in grapefruit juice, with an really nice bitter midsection. Malt section that follows is full enough that it nearly becomes tart, hops finish with a grassy note. A very tastey and well balanced IPA.

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2005 tap and later from the cask-hop in the city 05-pours light orange with a soapy white head. aroma of flowery fresh cascades with their characteristic grapefruit and lightly resiny note. reminds me somewhat of SN harvest. fresh cascade flavors predominate, but there is a faint toasted malt base in there as well. On cask, this beer was much better. the hop boquet was amazing! On cask, their was not any malt flavors, just a great onslaught of piney grapefruity fresh cascade hops. a very fun drink to be able to sample.
i have to add that the hop flavor here is fantastic. Its not overly bitter, but its definately fresh and full of fresh hop flavor. Its like a less piney/resiny version of SNCA if that beer was a single hop beer, it would be just like this. Has the fresh cascade hop flavor, but without the harshness of laconnor bottleworks IPA.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Pigfoot (2268) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 28, 2004
Pale orange, closer to apricot in color, with a big, blooming head, thick and luscious...inviting aromatics, even from the table...time to pull in for a closer inspection...ah, that’s nice! Fresh, glorious hoppitude! Bare, bright citrus and tropical fruits, lemon, pineapple, banana, even, grapefruit, some floral feel and a touch grassy and herbal, as well. This is the stuff!
But, to taste...ooo! Big citric bite up front, a bit of bitterness, a taste of tart, then all mellows and is smooth and lovely! ...rinse, repeat...very resfreshing, satisfying, delcious! Each swallow urges another, each encounter on the tongue urges admiration! This is damned tasty!
(just noticed I’ve been over-doing it on the exclamation points...sorry, I’ll try to reign it in a bit...)
There’s a palpability to the mouthfeel, juicy, fruity sensation that just won’t quit. If you’re no friend of flavor, stay away from this one, you won’t like it. Leave it for the rest of us who do like our beers to taste like something, and in this case, something terrifically good...!

UPDATED: NOV 28, 2007 Draft... This beer rocks!... Crystal clear, deep golden ale with a large, frothy, white head. Decent retention. Cirrus lacework. The aroma is very hoppy. Jalapeno, white and black pepper. Totally unbalanced, in a great, heavily bitter way. Full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, astringent finish. Terrific, world class IPA!
