Itís back! On tap at the Schlafly Tap Room. This is by far my favorite beer on the planet. This brew is exploding with hop aroma and flavor. Because itís wet-hopped, the aroma and flavor are "in your face", but it lacks the harshness of many APAs. At 6.7% ABV (this year), it packs a punch but drinks as smoothly as a 4% ABV beer. If you get a chance to try this fresh, itís unforgettable. As good as it gets for an APA.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2003 Cask conditioned, glowing hazy cloudy copper color, nice huge foamy cask head, man you can really smell those cascade hops, grapefruit-citrusy aroma. Nice grapefruit hoppy flavors yet balanced malt profile, unfiltered medium bodied IPA loaded with hops, but not overdone.

Folks we have a winner. What a beer. I had this off of cask and keg and it was excellant from both. Just a hop attack on your mouth, however itís not an overkill. Thereís nice balance to this beer. The citrus/pepper/baked tart flavors were unreal. BTW thereís two untapped casks still in the Tap Room that will be tapped and served in the coming weeks so keep your eyes and ears open...

Growler:Hazy, hazy, oarnge. Creamy, milky, head. Good retention, and drooping lace. Extremly fresh Cascade aroma. Adequate toasted, and sweet malt as well to mix with the crisp, citric, cascades. Very creamy mouthfeel. Silky texture, and smooth-soft,carbonation. Toasty, caramel, malt notes up front. The hops pick up quickly. Earthy, piney, hop notes start at the back and follow through the finish. Finish is clean, and quite malty, considering the hops. Ahh yes, this is classy for a hop fest!!!

Pale orange, closer to apricot in color, with a big, blooming head, thick and luscious...inviting aromatics, even from the table...time to pull in for a closer inspection...ah, thatís nice! Fresh, glorious hoppitude! Bare, bright citrus and tropical fruits, lemon, pineapple, banana, even, grapefruit, some floral feel and a touch grassy and herbal, as well. This is the stuff! But, to taste...ooo! Big citric bite up front, a bit of bitterness, a taste of tart, then all mellows and is smooth and lovely! ...rinse, repeat...very resfreshing, satisfying, delcious! Each swallow urges another, each encounter on the tongue urges admiration! This is damned tasty! (just noticed Iíve been over-doing it on the exclamation points...sorry, Iíll try to reign it in a bit...) Thereís a palpability to the mouthfeel, juicy, fruity sensation that just wonít quit. If youíre no friend of flavor, stay away from this one, you wonít like it. Leave it for the rest of us who do like our beers to taste like something, and in this case, something terrifically good...!

On tap at The Nachbar - Pour a hazy orange amber color. Aroma is all grapefruit from the Simcoe dry-hopping. Palate is balanced and slightly on the malty side. Not as bitter as one would think, but all of the great fresh hop qualities definitely come through. One of my favoorite beers ever. I can’t wait until next October to try it again.

wonderfully fresh hoppy aroma and flavors. one of the most floral aromas iíve smelled in a beer..cloudy golden color with pretty decent head on it. the best beer at the schlafly festival in my opinion...but thatís not surprising since iím a confirmed hophead.

Cask. Medium off-white head atop lightly hazed amber body, nice lacing. Aroma is medium sweet, grapefruit/orange, some pine. Taste is medium sweet, grapefruit, some pine/lemon, light bread. Medium body, some resin, very drinkable. I like hop bombs but this does mid-level hoppiness superbly.

My neighbor gave a couple of bottles of this one to try. Hoppy, malty, citrusy and very tasty start to finish. I enjoyed this one very much and would stock it if it were available in colorado.

Growler: Has a nice brownish copper glowing color with a large ivory puffed head of soft styrofoam that sits like a king on a thrown, simmering down slowly to a nice haze on top and tons of lace in thin sticky sheets and spots. Smell is quite fresh and warm, full of flower hop cones right off the vine lending solid fresh pine with floral greenness and some light grapefruit; toasty caramel malt backing is just right, letting the hops take charge as they should with this lovely fresh-hop IPA. Taste is smooth and wonderfully hopped, warm, soothing, fresh, invigorating, nice calm pineyness thats very easy to handle, bitterness is mellow and fresh with light lingering notes of floral qualities, lighter grapefruit and more pineyness. Malt backing keeps a well balanced palette with a nice toastyness thats bread doughy sweet adding oomff to the hoppy pine, a nice mix. Feel is lightly creamy and has a solid medium body with a super fine easy mellow piney finish that becomes drying and has a lasting fresh piney lingering in the back of the mouth and throat. Incredibly drinkable, super smooth and calm, warm and soothing, goes down with ease as you continue to want more. A good quality to have in any IPA thats as tasty as this.
