COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A mild-mannered brown ale, medium-bodied with a rich malty character and a decent dose of American hops.

Tasted at St. Louis BrewFest, May 12, 2007. I liked this ale, esp. the nice roasted sweet malts. Palate a bit off, though -- made the ale finish on a very flat note.

From the cask, served in a Schlafly imperial pint glass. Poured a clear dark brown with a creamy off-white head. Aromas of roasted malts, nutty coffee and caramel toffee, a light fruitiness and a touch of earth. Moderate carbonation and a crisp, dry, slick, creamy smooth medium bodied mouthfeel. A nice roasted malt taste, nutty coffee meshed with light flavors of cocoa and caramel, a subtle fruitiness in the middle, an earthy bitterness towards the end, the alcohol is slightly noticeable at the end too, and a dry malty finish. I really enjoyed this, easy, quaffable drinkability, I don’t know why I hadn’t tried this before at the Taproom.

Great tasting ale and when not trying many of the other seasonals from Schlafy I always can count on this one when I visit the Taproom.

Enjoyed at the taproom with beerdrenched. Pours a nice rich brown with light brown head that leaves some good lace. Aromas of toffee, chocolate, and medium roast coffee. Background earthy notes from the hops. The flavor has a lot of roast and some dark chocolate. Okay bitterness to finish. Medium body with appropriate carbonation. Not bad at all for a brown.

tap-hop in the city 05-man, im impressed with this one! pours clear brown amber with a big sudsy beige head. nutty, peanut quality on the aroma with a significant dose of some leafy, earthy hops as well. nutty flavors dominate with a hint of chocolate. long cashew/peanuty finish that was very nice. medium body for the style. one of the better of this style!

(Hop in the City) Lovely deep brown with generous tan head. Malt aromas. Sweet malt flavor with maybe a hint of nut.

Sampled on tap at the Tap Room, STL. An incredible brown that must be experienced. Dark brown with a generous tan head. Aroma and flavor are dominated by coffee and bitter, dark chocolate. Caramel and some spicy, piney hops are also in the mix, but are in the background. Full-bodied, light to moderately carbonated with a dry, clean finish. Very close to porter in style. I LOVE this beer.
