prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jan 7, 2008 From the brewery on 12/4/07. WOW! Bourbon and coffee flavor not present in the malty aroma -- drinks like a cold Irish Coffee. Smooth and drinkable. Sweetness nicely offsets the alcohol and coffee. Very good! JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Jan 3, 2008 A delicious, sweetish, warming, bedtime beer that avoids incompatible overhopping. Pours black with a smallish tan head. Malty nose of sweet, dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor is sweetish with very restrained bitterness -- thankfully avoids the big c-hops that so many other US imperial stouts make the mistake of using, IMO. Balanced. The biggest weakness was in the mouthfeel, which was a bit thin. This would have been gorgeous with a slice of tart apple or cherry pie. Strykzone (1459), Wood River, Illinois, USA Oct 13, 2007 First taste of this beer tells you it is not for the feeble. Lots of malt and fruit flavors along with whiskey and wood. ABV was clearly high. Beer was sweet but with a big kick. madscotsman (147), Fairview Heights, Illinois, USA Sep 23, 2007 Pours a dark black in color with a large khaki head. Had aromas of chocolate and roasted malts like you would expect in this style. Had some molasses and coffee in the palate. Had a great balanced finish. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Schlafly Imperious Imperial Stout

Gabemik (46), Joplin, Missouri, USA May 26, 2007 Pours a deep black with a dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate, some spices, and fruits. Flavors are much the same but with some molasses added. Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA May 21, 2007 I had this side-by-side with the BA version, which is much tastier. This is dark brown enough to be called black and has a thin tan head. It’s got an aroma of milk chocolate, roasted malt and a touch of barley, some smoke, and a splash of old coffee. Some dark dried fruit is added to the flavor along with a light taste of alcohol. It’s a bit thin and finishes on a dry note. Not bad.
