3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jake Barnes (456) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 30, 2002A bit weak on the hops for me. A British style IPA that doesn’t wallop you with hops. From what i’ve heard the Il Vicino Wet Mountain IPA that Schlafly brews for a local pizza joint is much better but they ran out before i could get any.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 seymour (1099) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 26, 2011
From 2007 notebook: Tasted on tap at brewery in standard pub glass. Poured a deep golden color with chill haze and moderate off-white foam, somewhat lasting with slight lace. Aromas of grain but mostly hops: earthy, flowery, woodsy, and citrusy. Too much grapefruit citrus, though, in my opinion. Cascades hops are inappropriate for a true-to-style IPA. Flavor is hoppy too, of course, but malt-sweetness cuts through with some complexity: mild malt, some toast and caramel. Light-medium body with spritzy mouthfeel and crisp, slightly fruity aftertaste which faded to dryness. Overall, a nice balanced, fresh, hoppy ale. It’s just more American than English in breeding, which is fine if you’re into that.

I can’t quite make out the smudges, but it was bottled on something, something, 2011.
Appearance: Pours a clear, deep gold-hued body with a sudsy, white head.
Smell: Slightly sweet-scented pale malts with only modest notes of citrus and florals. A fairly mild aroma all around.
Taste: Modest pale malted barley upfront, a light touch of caramel and golden syrup for sweetness. Lemon-hinting, floral hops, also some slender orange accents and with no more than a medium bitterness. Soon, the already subdued bitterness dies down, allowing a surprising amount of sweetness forward. Smooth, bittersweet finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel.
Overall: It’s so balanced that, for an India Pale Ale, it comes across as a tad timid. Not that I’m a proponent of tongue-blistering bitterness and nothing else brews, no, but this seemed to go a little bit too far in the other direction.

Pours orange, decent head, accidentally dumped a ton of sediment into it so I can’t comment on clarity. Light citric hop aroma, grapefruit. Flavor is slightly gummy malts over a grapefruit and pine hop finish. Balanced, pleasant. Enjoyed this one.

Pour is an amber shade with a light head. Nose is of mostly pine and citrus notes. Taste is of fruits mostly dominated by citrus notes. Not too heavy and rather refreshing.

Bottle. Iodine, grass aroma. Cloudy orange, light lace. Light sour, salty, herbal/grassy, not particulary hoppy. Chewy, sparkly. Resin grass stickiness in the back of the throat.

(bottle) A cloudy orange body with a white head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, yeast, some spice, and sweet--interesting aroma. The flavor is a pleasant fruity and earthy hop bitterness, with increasing sweetness; some orange, a hint of grapefruit in the finish. Both the bitterness and sweetness intermingle in the aftertaste. Medium body and slightly sticky.

a strong malt favor of broomstraw and hay lead to a hop flavor of citrus and pine pungent enough in floral honey combination to remind one of fresh concord grapes. I loved the brew and why not? since it is so full of flavor and character. Every sip is like a lesson in balance, subty calling out HEY BOY, DON’T GET TOO FRIGGIN CAUGHT UP IN BALANCE! Clear sir, I understand sir! and i really mean it. Good smooth brew with a lesson or two.

Deep golden-orange pour. Sticky white head. The nose is a little bit fruity and sweet. A touch of lingering sweetness and some heavy earthy hoppiness. It’s sort of chewy and a little bit sweet as well. Sticky, chewy and just not all that good. Lingering sweetness - meh.

My first from this brewery. Average IPA. Pours a light amber, clear with a small head. The aroma is malty with no hint of the hops to come. Nice flavor of pine, citrus, pepper, sweet malt. Nice dry finish.
