SubstanceT (1087), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA Jun 8, 2007 Rating 1050. From the bottle purchased from my local Schnucks on Hampton. This beer is interesting for me. We just moved to StL, bought a home and am finally starting my life after many many years in school. So, anyways this beer means a lot to me. Darker golden to nearly orange in color. Medium sized head that was medium lasting. Nose is rather malty, musky with a medium hop profile. Taste is more orangy perfume hops and dusty. Very drinkable and pleasant.
EithCubes (1796), Indiana, USA Aug 5, 2008 Bottle. Very tangy aroma, reminds of commercial fruit juice mixes, peach, pineapple, caramel, pine, flowers. Golden body with an excitable yellow-tinged creamy head. Laces like a mother. Taste is lightly but lastingly bitter, has some of the tartness of a Double IPA, same fruit as above but they’re in the back seat. Medium body, creamy with a dry after. Floral and astringent, very quaffable! I do like the rubber glove astringency, reminds me of some craazy German brews. DrBayern (923), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA May 2, 2008 Bottle on 7/04/2007. Bottle procured by my brother (BuffaloHead), and shared with him, and I just found my notes on this. Clear orange pour with a large foamy head that really lasted and left excellent lace. Aroma of citrus, especially orange peel, with some pine, and light toffee to back it all up. Medium body and carbonation with a resinous mouthfeel. Solid malt based flavors of caramel that quickly give way to to a pungent grapefruit bitterness and a long dry finish. I really enjoyed this. sneagrams3 (1367), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Apr 1, 2008 Tasted 3/29/08. On draft from the Tap Room. Filtered with a copper hue. Layer of white medium bubbled head. Mild citrus hoppy aroma. Medium bodied with a dry backbone. English style. Chalky. Bitter and slightly sticky. Piney grapefruit hop character. The sticky bitterness becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. Good tart flavor with an ever so slight fruity ester. Dogbrick (2209), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 2, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a pale yellow-orange color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet malt and lightly floral hops. Medium-bodied with a borderlne cloying sweetness. Lots of malt and caramel flavor with a lesser degree of citrus hops to balance. The finish remains sweet and malty with a grainy aftertaste. Overall this beer is average at best, and didn’t really work for me. Ibrew2or3 (1648), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 5, 2007 Courtesy of Degarth. Pours a hazy golden orange with off white head. The aroma seems funky on the surface. Its earthy, sugary, a tad malty along with mild floral hops. The taste is sweet with malts and then grainy and pale malts. The hops are spice and floral and really aren’t taking center stage. Sort of an English style IPA.
