Poured Brown with a short offwhite head. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and a bit of smoke with some chocolate. Flavor was roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Somewhat watery on the palate and medium body for a stout. Dry finish. Interestingly dry for an imperial stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
When held to the light in a pilsner glass, this is a stunning Blood garnet color. Taller tan head dissipates to a lasting thin lid. Lots of sweet rich malt, with light molasses and cocoa. Hints of dry herbal hops and touch of alcohol present. Thick and slightly coating in fell. The alcohol thins it out in the throat, along with a mild burn. Espresso and toasted malt abound. White pepper burn in the finish and linger. A touch rough in spots, but a nice end of the day stout.

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a deep charcoal color with a dark tan hea that is thick and stays with the beer as you drink it. The aroma is roasted malt & chocolate. Mouthfeel is thick and slightly chewy, not syrupy. The taste is exactly what you would expect from an extra stout, coffee, chocolate and roastd malt flavors swirl around the tounge. Itís everything I want from an exra stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark pour with a light tan head. Dark chocolate, caramel, slight hints of roasted malt in the aroma. Roasty and malty taste, some nuttiness and subtle hints of fruit, moderately dry hoppy finish with just a hint of booze. Very smooth, easy drinking. Not as much coffee flavor as I was expecting there to be, but Iím not complaining at all. Nothing too overpowering about this one. I wouldnít exactly categorize this as an Imperial Stout, but itís still a very well made beer by Schlafly.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The body is black with a light tan head. The aroma is sweet with pancakes and some notes of vanilla. There is also some almond in this one. The taste is relatively dry with some coffee and dark chocolate. The body is smooth. There is not much else going on in this one. I would say itís closer to a foriegn stout than an impy stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of Brett and Hannah. Pour was solid, big huge head, solid lacing. The aroma was chocolate and cocoa, pretty simple. Flavor was mostly chocolate and cocoa with some tropical fruity notes detectable (coconut too?). Coffee was also present underneath with some roasted notes. The mouthfeel was creamy and typical of the style. Another nice production by Schlafly, thanks Brett and Hannah!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from an under-rated brewer. This poured an extremely dark mahogany with a slender tan head that soon reduced to a halo. The aroma is full of coffee and roasted barley suported by a splash of alcohol and a touch of nutty bitterness. A drp of molasses and a git of milk chocolate are added to the flavor, all smoothly blended. The finish is dark and malty with a roasted bitterness. Good brew.
