This collaboration with Kaldiís Coffee uses the cold toddy method of extraction for the coffee. We mix it with Oatmeal Stout for an exceptionally delicious beer.

From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Liqour Direct" in Covington, Kentucky - This one poured a black brew that smeeled like, well, coffee and possesed a tall brown head of foam. Tastewise, it was coffee nearly all the way with some malt sweetness at the end.

Black, with a thin tan head. Huge coffee aroma, as one might expect. Hint of burnt toast, as well. Coffee dominates the flavor, but notes of burnt toast and dark chocolate sneak in as well. Tasty.

Aroma is not only coffee, but GOOD coffee. Black with a frothy head just makes it look appetizing. No off flavors; exactly like advertized...coffee, malty, with a creamy finish. Extremely well made.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2007 Bottle from jgd0608. Black as black can be with small fizzy tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malts and blck coffee. Nice bitter coffee flavor as well as good malt backbone. Good body as it is not gonna be too thick since itís a regular stout. Leaves a strong coffee flavor in your mouth thatís for sure.

12 bottle 2006 version courtesy of BigErn. Pours to a beautiful,. bright, deep brown, to black color, with a rocky, white head that fades, and a good carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent with lots of good aromas of coffee, and hints of mild roast. The palate is firm, with good dark chocolate, coffee, and mild roasty flavor. The palate is very creamy and silky on the tongue as well. This beer finishes with more good dark chocolate and coffee flavors, then ends with a mild roasty flavor that lingers. The addition of real coffee in this beer makes this a really great coffee stout. If you love coffee and stout, you will love this beer. Excellent desert beer, and a great beer to enjoy after a big meal, and dare I say I beer you could enjoy with breakfast.

Oct 06 bottle. Beer is very dark brown, nearly opaque. Head is initially large, beige, frothy/creamy.
The aroma is intriguing. Malty with moderate notes of roasted grain, chocolate, coffee, light notes of tobacco and molasses; Hoppy with moderate-to-heavy notes of green, vegetal grass, light notes of resin/pine; Yeasty with a trace of dough; Trace of sap.
The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic with a moderately long, lightly bittersweet, trace acidic finish.
The body is full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.

Oct 06 bottling. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain/husks, stale coffee), with notes of twigs, vegetation, ashtray. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Really disappointing aroma after trying the oatmeal stout, which is apparently the base beer for this...husky, poor coffee character, vegetal. More acidic than the oatmeal stout as well. Eh.
