Good coffee flavor, but it doesn’t overpower the essentials. The sweet chocolate taste lingers along with the coffee and just a hint of bitter and the end. Smooth and warming. A good full taste and appropriately moderated carbonation.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a fizzy red black with a huge tan head. Huge coffee taste, but light mouthfeel. Almost a ground coffee texture to it as well, with a lingering mocha taste. Very good, but could be slightly better balanced.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Very dark brown color with a glimpse of mahogany when held to the light. Tall bubbly light tan head that leave a vale of lace. Mildly acidic black coffee aromas, there is a touch of sugar and dark cocoa in the background as well. Lightly sweet in the start with a kick of roasted coffee following. I find this one much smoother than most coffee stouts. A light soda cracker and roasted malt finish and a mild coffee linger.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Thanks Kevin! Nov 2, 2005 bottle. The beer pours to a weird brown body with a thin tan head. The aroma smells like freshly ground coffee beans that have yet to be used to make coffee. The flavor is a light coffee and light sugars. Kinda boring flavor. Light and boring mouthfeel. Not creamy, or full, or sweet, or anything. Too weak.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Clear brown body, thin white bubbly head. Earthy, woody aroma with dry coffee bean and a hint of peachy fruit. The flavor thins out with dry coffee bean fiber, strawberry, light chocolate malt. An uninspried coffee stout.

3.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice dark color with a thin tan head. Wonderful roasty coffee aroma. Flavor is not too bad, obviously coffee flavor, kind of mild (I was hoping it would have been a little stronger). Kind of a light body, with a good amount of carbonation. Overall, this is pretty good.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cola mahoganey color, thin soapy light tan head. Smells like coffee. And by coffee, I mean average, fresh-brewed coffee. Further inspection yields creamy sugar (heh). Roasty sweet malt addition. Tastes like a weak dry stout with a hint of coffee. Some grass and light sweet biscuits. Well rounded flavor.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown w/ a full light tan head nice lacing. Huge coffee aroma nice heavily roasted malts some over roasted chocolate. Palate is to light some nice texture but not much to it almsot like a thick coffee. Flavor is very coffee, while a good coffee very very coffee. A dry chocolate and some light roasted malts. A fairly blah coffee stout, definatelly no where near Peche.. I want to open a bottle of that tonight.... maybe I will.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep red-brown body, somewhat translucent, thick beige head. Buttery, roasty, coffee aroma. Coffee dominated the body, with notes of butter and ever-present roasted malts. Medium-bodied. Unremarkable; nothing separates this from other stouts of average repute.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: JAN 21, 2007 Dark mahogany. Puffy light tan foam clings to the glass. Tangy and airy aroma with notes of roasted grains and burnt cocoa. Mild coffee presence. Tongue tickling carbonation and grainy textured. Somewhat tangy, initially, with an expansive airiness which washes away the minute richness. Lushness is next to nil at the center, and the body remains light on its feet as coffee and chalky roast generate more dryness. Well-placed roasty depth is noted at room temperature, but isn’t much of a factor due to the pervasive airiness. Coffee yields a bit of brashness as you swallow, while bits of roasted grains, toffee, and chocolate seal the finish. Pretty uninspiring version, as the nose is overly airy/estery and lacks malt definition to coincide with the coffee, and the carbonation’s lack of density hinders the character and complexity of the malt.
