BigBastard (669), L.A., California, USA Nov 6, 2006 Deep, cooffee black color, no head. Aroma is just like walking into the coffee shop, robust and fresh brewed aroma. Flavor also has a full bodied, fresh brewed coffee taste. Very good, I’d like more of this.
neo_hippie2 (114), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jun 24, 2008 Ah now this was truly an exceptional and original stout. Pours a deep brown/coffee with a generous tan head. Lots of coffee on the nose. The coffee presence is actually very noticeable in the beer. Has the taste of straight up coffee, not roasted but added to the beer. It creates a very nice union between the coffee and the beer. Not abrasive at all. Finishes with just the right amount of bite of hops. Truly a complex and interesting beer. If you like coffee, you should love this one. Highly reccomended JMerritt (1105), Macomb, Illinois, USA May 19, 2008 Dark, dark brown with a medium-sized light brown head that is mostly and unevenly diminishing. Aroma is strikingly coffee-rich - not roasted malt, but straight-up coffee, perhaps with a bit of creme. Coffee flavor follows through in the flavor, turning slightly roasty with hints of caramel and a bit of smoke. Finish is slightly green. Moderately carbonated, perhaps a bit too much for my taste. Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 29, 2008 Bottled. Poured deep, opaque brown with a towering, sticky cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter, dry-roasted espresso beans and a mild complement of dark chocolate with some vanilla and herbal accents.. warmth brought out an interesting lactic notes. The flavor had wet coffee grounds and milk chocolatey sweetness at the core with coffee bitterness and a bit of vanilla surrounding.. this finished poorly with a blend of heavy coffee bitterness and gym socks.. and that finish really stuck. Medium-bodied with sharp notes from the coffee.. this went downhill from the initial impression. red éric (1379), montréal, Quebec, Canada Apr 17, 2008 On tap at the Tap Room, dark brown color, with a tan-colored head, with an oatmeal, roasted malt, black coffee nose, with some roasted coffee beans, a hint of mocha and vanilla spiciness, with a faint black cocoa chocolate aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a good roasted bean coffee character, with a dark coffee roasty accent, some mellow oatmeal , sweet mochaish and vanilla flavors, leading towards a black bitter chocolatey, roasty, bitterness finish. drfabulous (686), Columbia, Missouri, USA Apr 13, 2008 Super amount of coffee roasts this one and makes it an underrated coffee stout. Full of body and taste. We drank it as a fluke April day become cold and wintery.
