This collaboration with Kaldi’s Coffee uses the cold toddy method of extraction for the coffee. We mix it with Oatmeal Stout for an exceptionally delicious beer.

Appearance of a bowling ball; deep brown-black. The head is short-lived but it leaves quite a ring of lace on the glass. The aroma is dry coffee grounds, and that’s about it. There is a hint of some dry mocha type stuff, but it’s very slight. Not unpleasant, just a little weak. A mild sugary sweetness, and a nutty quality as it warms up. The taste is cold coffee (no surprise), with an ashy kind of flavor. Grainy and nutty both. You can taste the "brownness" in the malts. Slightly rounded at the edges, but mostly a sharp coffee ground bitterness. Full-bodied, chewy and buttery on the palate. I have no beef with it at all, it just isn’t as complex as I had hoped.

On tap at 28 Springs thanks to Casey. Pours a medium brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is all coffee. Flavor follows. Mild carbonation. Not much maltiness at all. Nice medium bodied beer.

Pours a beautiful dark black. I had this beer on tap off a Randall filled with espresso beans. Absolutely delicious and changes the flavor charactistics of the beer. With the espresso beans this beer is a little sweeter and has a strong coffee kick. Pours a deep black with a strong expresso scent.

Pours black with off white head. Nice rich coffee aroma. Grainy oatmeal malty texture. Good fresh coffee flavor. Fairly medium easy to drink body. Straightforward good coffee stout.

Hey wonderful coffee aroma. A deep Ebony color, very clear. A nice coffee taste to a medium bodied stout. Lite bitter finish. We have a winner!

the earthy zing of coffee. i can tell you this beer has a great foundation since it starts with the Schlafly Oatmeal stout and does not disappoint overall. mild and rich stout-y.

Bottled. Dark of course and aroma is coffee. Espresso beans and roasted maltiness. Easy mouthful.

Light tan frothy head of very fine bubbles. Mild coffee in the aroma with some chocolate, roasted grains and a bit of raisin. Color is a very dark brown. Flavor has a sunstantial coffee kick but is rather short lived. Rather thin body for an oatmeal stout. Dark roasted malts and some bitterness from the coffee. Finishes lingering coffee and biterness. A decent coffee stout.

Rated on 4-26-2010 (Bottled on 11-06-2009) This beer’s appearance is a medium sized fizzy tan head with a short retention, opaque dark brown body and one ring of lacing. The aroma is malt, coffee and roasty. The taste mimics the aromas. The palate is smooth, watery and thin. This beer is light bodied. Overall, easy to drink for the style due to the watery, thin texture. I have had better of this beer style.
