COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This collaboration with Kaldi’s Coffee uses the cold toddy method of extraction for the coffee. We mix it with Oatmeal Stout for an exceptionally delicious beer.

Bottled. Poured deep, opaque brown with a towering, sticky cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter, dry-roasted espresso beans and a mild complement of dark chocolate with some vanilla and herbal accents.. warmth brought out an interesting lactic notes. The flavor had wet coffee grounds and milk chocolatey sweetness at the core with coffee bitterness and a bit of vanilla surrounding.. this finished poorly with a blend of heavy coffee bitterness and gym socks.. and that finish really stuck. Medium-bodied with sharp notes from the coffee.. this went downhill from the initial impression.

Aroma has coffee, some truffles and dark chocolate. Flavour has mocha, some dark chocolate, licorice and hints of cocoa. Feels a bit thin but I like the strong coffee aromas here.

Pours a transparent dark brown with a thin off-white head. Heavy mocha coffee aroma has some toasted malt underneath. Body starts with a sweet sticky toffee flavor and some coffee bean balance with a lingering earthy roastiness. A nice stout.

"i don’t know anything about the "cold toddy method" but the coffee presence in this beer was super-fresh, almost like chewing on a fresh picked bean. definitely at the fore-front. another one that covered up the beeryness of the beer, but not in a bad way. smooth texture, medium bodied. some light roast and chocolate and hops to accompnay the coffee. Another nice beer from Lou!"

12 oz bottle from backlog notes. Pours dark brown in color with a small khaki colored head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, nice black coffee, decent bitterness, dark chocolate, very mild caramel, with an earthy finish. My only complaint is that the body is thin for a stout.

Drank the evening before leaving for Nawlins and Zwanze Day.. . Got in Lawrence,KS .. Cork & Barrel .. . . Pours a deep brown, medium head, strong lacing .. . notes of espresso, roast, and instant coffee mixed with twigs .. . great smooth mouthfeel- way to easy to drink- a great session stout .. . I enjoyed the hell out of it .. . .

I first tried this quite awhile ago and I wasn’t a huge fan of coffee beers... but going back, it’s a nice decent brew.

Oct 06 bottling. Head is initially average sized, frothy, light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain/husks, stale coffee), with notes of twigs, vegetation, ashtray. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Really disappointing aroma after trying the oatmeal stout, which is apparently the base beer for this...husky, poor coffee character, vegetal. More acidic than the oatmeal stout as well. Eh.

12-oz. Thanks, Theisti! Pours opaque black with a sudsy, tallish tan head that falls quickly to film. Minimal lace. Sour, chalky, heavily coffee-ish nose. Watery, nearly still, very coffee-forward on the attack. Light mid-palate and virtually absent finish. Pleasant but a bit of an unbalanced coffee bomb.

Draft to taster. Looks solid; a fairly transparent light cola with off-white head that quickly dissipates into lacing. Smells solid too; dark malt and lots of pleasant coffee. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. Good, not great.
