3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Some hops in the aroma. Bubbly dark gold with an even white head. Earthy smooth taste. Very hoppy but mildly bitter. Some fruitiness (pear?). Soft carbonation. Not bad...

3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 29, 2007 Bottle. Pours a yellow gold with a thin head. Nose is skunky/beery. Not looking forward to this at this point. However, beer is very fruity and crisp with some slight bitterness in the finish. A very nice, refreshing post yardwork beer. Nothing fabulous, but certainly enjoyable. Thanks to tjthresh for this bottle.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This has a polished bronze body with a fizzy white head. The aroma is sweet and malty balanced by a floral bitterness. Medium bodied with a lively mouthfeel. It tastes of sweet, light malt with a drop of honey, a chunk of apple, and a light bittgerness. Dry finish. Pretty decent drink.

12oz bottle. Clear and filtered. Golden bronze hue. Sparce white head. Sweet, floral citrus nose. Honeyish. Medium bodied. Full, comparitively. More bitter. "americanized" hoppy Kolsch. Smooth light malts. Slightly corny. Good bitter dry mouth feel. Floral and fruity. Little melon and citrus. Crisp and easy. I love this style!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle, poured a clear gold with a small white head. Taste is lightly malty with some sweetness. Decent beer, but in my opinion not as good as Goose Island’s Kolsch

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of beerhandy. Pours gold with a nice white head. Smells of grapes, grass, light floral elements. Tastes peppery with some decent earthy hops, biscuity malt and a light lemony note.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had it at the Boathouse at Forest Park in St. Louis in a bottle. No glass was available. It was mostly hops and was clean and crisp. Not really a memorable beer.

I like the heavier darker beers for the most part. I’m a hop-head, I love IPA’s but on a hot summer day, you’ll have trouble finding a better drinking "summer" beer than Schlafly’s Summer Kolsch!

From the tap, served in a standard bar pint glass.
Poured a clear tasty looking golden with a nice foamy white head, good retention, slowly settled into a thin sudsy lacing, minimal amount sticking.
Aromas of wheat bready malts and a light citrus and a big floral hoppiness.
Good carbonation and a crisp, smooth light bodied mouthfeel.
Pleasant tasting, sweet wheat grainy with a lemon citrus, a subtle spiciness and a dryish grainy and floral finish, good summertime drinkability.
While I preferred this summer’s version of Goose Island’s Summertime Kolsch, this is still very quaffable and great in hot, humid midwestern weather.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 20, 2006 Decent summer seasonal ale, but this one had very little to distinguish it. It was like they dumped a little bit of spice flavoring into their amber ale, or something. Not bad, but not great. Watery palate, and the flavor was too light for a kolsch (in my opinion). Easy drinking, though. Overall, about average.
