very little head, somewhat floral aroma with a citrus quality to it. not much experience with the kolsch style, but this was fairly refreshing.

All in all, this is pretty good quaffable beer. Smells floral, mild citrus, little to no malt aroma, pours thin and yellow (my only real complaint against this one), thin, lasting light head, almost no lacing. Flavor is mild and pleasing, with little to complain about except lack of strength. Slight banana flavor, followed by moments of weak maltiness. followed by palate-cleansing citrus. A great summer brew for the hot, humid days of a Missouri summer.

UPDATED: JUN 11, 2004 A very interesting brew.
Definitely an ale but seemed to have lager characteristics too. Rich golden color, ever so slightly hazy with a lacy but not spectacular head and a citrusy aroma. Light to medium bodied and malty with a lemony note, quite the thirst quencher, with a dryish finish.

I really enjoyed this summer seasonal from Schlafly. Summer Kolsch has a refreshing earthy flavor with a slight hops kick (although I did not note the bitterness mentioned in several previous reviews). As with all Schlafly brews, this one appears to be designed for session quaffing, and is smooth and easy on the mouth and throat.

Not bad, but maybe abit hoppy for the style it is "supposed" to represent. Not enough malt---needs more spice also. But still good, just not as good as Goose’s Summertime

Unimpressive. Im not a huge Kolsch fan and ill admit the palate was getting a bit abused by this point in the Hop in the City so a later re-rate is probably in order.

Much more bitterness than needed. Dissapointing.

More bitterness than the "real" koelsch. Nice light beer that still gives you the mighty hop.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Jokes (1453) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 8, 2002
Nothing spectacular here. Light, not much flavor. I prefer the Goose Island Summertime.

Yellow in an almost artificial way. Head was thin. Nose of fresh linen? Mild- lacked the annoying popcorn flavor of other kolsch’s.
