This light-colored, refreshing ale is THE beer of Cologne. Well balanced and mild mannered, this beer is great for summer.

Appearance: golden, hazy, with a light white head that dissipate quickly. Aroma: bready malt with kolsch yeast esters of pear and light pepper. Taste: light malt sweetness that leads into a sharp, floral hop bitterness. Bitterness sharper than typical kolsch examples. Mouthfeel: Light to moderate body with crisp carbonation. Finish: Dry, with bitterness lingering on the tongue. Faint bready malt. Overall: A bit heavier malt character and bitterness than a traditional kolsch. Yeast character spot on. Very drinkable.

A hazed blonde kolsch with a thin white head. In aroma, light biscuit malt with grassy hops, grainy notes, OK. In mouth, a sweet fruity biscuit malt with light grassy hops, light grainy notes, pedestrian.

WTF? Kölsch? This is a Belgian Wit and even at that gone wrong. A modest 4.8% ABV yet you clearly smell alcohol before you can taste it. Way too much malt in the taste and so cloudy you’d think they dissolve the brewer’s old gloves in it. Maybe that explains the sour off taste. Might be interesting yeast for something Belgian, but for Kölsch it isn’t even the right color. Laughable.

Nice straw yellow color and an interesting yeast profile. Light finish and not bad at all.

Pale yellow pour with white head and lace. Aroma is clean light wheaty malt and a touch of floral hops. Light sweet malt flavor with a decent floral bitter finish. Medium/light bodied. pretty good

Pours a hazy golden with a finger-width of off-white head that settles slowly, leaving some soapy lace. Nose involves crusty sourdough bread, subtle sweet fruit, light spice. Fairly sweet, lightly tart, lightly bitter. Medium to light bodied, somewhat oily, a bit watery, softer carb, with a pleasant, dusty tart and bitter finish. Honestly, a really nice beer. Would love to see it in their can session series. Makes me a believer in Kolsch as a style. I didn’t find this boring at all. Nice clean drinkable brew.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours gold with a white head. Taste sweet, fruity, light. I thought this was good. I would drink this again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Where and how: bottle 355 ml TW
Aroma worty, hint of wet cloth. A bit soapy with floral hops behind. Could be much cleaner.
Appearance :
Top: lighter top that quickly disappeared.
Base: slightly hazy, golden.
Palate : medium bodied, mid carbonation, slightly chalky.
Taste: mild fruity feel, touch of honey, sweet malts. Lacking crisp clean feel of real Kolsch.
other notes gets better once warms up. Once volatile compounds leave arena.

Bottle. Clear gold with a thick foamy white head. Aroma is wheat, burnt toast, pilsner malt and green apple. Tastes like beer with light fruity notes. Thin crisp mouthfeel. Refreshing.
