Sampled at TWCP Beer Fest 2013. It poured a copper color with a white head. The aroma was of caramel malts with a nice hop backbone. The taste was of bready malts with some spice and hops. Not bad.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 alcaponejunior (349) - Texas, USA - MAY 12, 2012
Tan and clear, with great sheets of lacing and a nice head.
Smell was somewhat like a hef, with plenty of yeast and a little sweetness.
Taste was plenty malty with some honey like sweetness, lots of great yeast flavors, and some light spices.
Feel was light and drinkable, yet still had plenty of great body. The alcohol is well concealed and the aftertaste was lightly sweet with lingering yeast.
Overall it’s a fine example of the style, and another great beer from the Schlafly taproom.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 seymour (1099) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 27, 2011
Tasted on-tap 9/17/2011 at the Hop in the City Festival in a clean half-pint taster glass. Very nice interpretation, true-to-style. Aroma of fresh bread and German hops. Light in color and body. Hints of caramelized sugar. Smoother by far than most high-gravity beers. Delicious.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 phaleslu (4451) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 20, 2010
Draft sample at Hop in the City 2010. Pours a clear golden color with a tiny white head. Aroma of sugar, sweet malts, grains, and straw. Flavor of sweet malts, corn syrup, candy, straw, and cereal. Light-bodied, with a sticky mouthfeel and low carbonation. There isn’t a whole lot here, and in a day where I tried a bunch of new Schlafly beers, this one failed to live up to the rest of the bunch, despite not being a totally bad beer. Just too sweet.

3.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Narnad (1342) - Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA - MAY 23, 2010
Deep golden color with a small white head. Aromas has a fairly grainy, light floral, light grassy hops nose with a sweet honey ending. Flavor starts off with a very fruity note followed by a smooth grainy and mild sweet honey accent with not bitterness and a mild alcohol at end. Body is light to modest with low carbonation, slightly dry from the mild toastedness at the end. Overall a good, light brew with a great mouth feel and flavor for summer.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Strykzone (3814) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - MAY 19, 2009
Enjoyed at the Schlafly Tap Room. Pour is a lightly amber gold with almost no head. Faint aroma is malty with some grain and fruit. Flavor is similar to the aroma with some buttery notes. It is sweet and I would have like a bit less alcohol. A very drinkable beer, though.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SkyinBrian (430) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 15, 2008
sort of sweet up front but finish is dry and alcoholic. If I didn’ hate lagers so much I might say that I liked this...okay, fine you win...lagers can be fun sometimes.
