Really dark color that wouldnt let any light through. Iím liking this stuff already. Roasty malts and sweet oatmeal aromas make the anticipation even greater. The flavor is a lot of the above with just the right amount of sweetness. Could use a bit more hop bite but thats just my two cents. Really enjoyable.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Very heavy oatmeal, almost has a little bit of steak aroma... pretty effing odd. Body is of a typical stout, black with a thin tan head. Taste is chocolate and oatmeal... pretty standard oatmeal stout, nothing great, but a good beer to drink on ocassion. Mouthfeel is a little rougher then Iíd like though.

On tap at Growlerís pub on Lindbergh. Just a great, great beer IMHO. Smoky molasses taste. I had this side by side with Sam Smith Oatmeal Stout and it more than held its own. For anyone that is a fan of Sweet stouts - you have to try this one.

I am a huge fan of this beer. Itís sweet, malty, toasty, and just plain good. Almost has a bacon flavor to it? Sounds weird, but itís good! One of my favorite stouts. And itís brewed in my hometown!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A medium sized light tan head. The body is very dark with just a vague hint of amber coloring. Aroma has toast, sweet malts and some banana peels. The lacing likes to hang out towards the tops of the glass. The taste is toast, walnuts and some cream cheese. The mouthfeel is medium to heavy. Has an oily finish. Overall a pretty good beer in a style that I usually donít care for. Thanks civforprez.

Iíve been sampling a mixed six pack of Schlaflyís and this is by far my favorite. Beautiful rich color with a light brown head. Subtle toast aroma. Huge flavor -- sweet burnt chocolate malt wonderfully balanced with hop bitterness. Full bodied and a long, warm finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours thick brown to black with a full tan head. The aroma is roasted, with coffee and a malt sweetness as well. There is an oakey wooden presence in the aroma also. The taste is smooth with mild roasted malts and a very robust coffee taste. Itís got a mostly creamy feel and finishes nicely.
