This rich, full-bodied Stout has sweetness from caramel malt, bitterness from roasted barley and smoothness from flaked oats. Available on draft and in bottles.

From bottle and tap. Bottle smelled like butt... musty and thick chocolate. Tap didn't have much flavor to offer at all. Watery but gritty. Just a little roasted malts.

Not too impressed. Smells like butt - seriously, I don't know what was wrong with it. Appearance is cark with a slight head. Flavor is very light - some chocolate but mostly a slightly-nasty aftertaste that left my mouth begging to make it stop. Also, it seemed pretty thin for a stout, even a sweet one. Don't think I'll try this one again.

3/7/04. Poured out of 12 oz. bottle, obtained in a trade with igneous1 on RateBeer. Pours a dark brown-black with ruby outline, good-sized, frothy and rocky dark tan head that fades to a rocky tuft. Lacing is pretty good, a bit lumpy and blotchy but quite nice. Aromas of light coffee, cream, roasted malt, and a wood-like trace of dirty dishwater. First taste reveals medium-thin body, very smooth with a slightly woody tang and dark roasted maltiness. Pretty decent and drinkable, but it's lacking in complexity and depth, in my opinion. Finish goes smooth and pretty elegant, lingering with a smokiness to the malt and a subtly dirty hopped bitterness and burnt black pepper taste. More going on in the back end than when you first take a drink of this stuff. Quite nice to linger on after a swallow. A solid, drinkable oatmeal stout, but not close to my favorite.

Very nice toasted grain aroma. Pours nearly black with some brown bricking with a generous head. The body is light w/ a nice dry flavor. I don't believe the commerical description that it's "...rich, full bodied". It's quite drinkable.

Dark brown in colour with a thin quickly discipatiing white head. The nose is sweaty with hops and light malts. The taste is very hoppy and does not appear to be balanced for a stout. The body is thin and un rewarding.

A very impressive beer. Deep black pour with a nice creamy tan head. Roasted oat, malt, coffee dominate the aroma. Very smooth. A definite must have if you're in St. Louis. Bought this 6-pack in Columbia, MO on my way back from Lawrence, KS.

Nose of vanilla, molasses, and of course oatmeal. Pours a dark brown with garnet highlights. The minimal light brown head is mostly diminishing. The roasted flavor starts malty with a medium acidic middle. The finish is robust and moderately bitter. The full body is dry and lively. The finish feels chalky. Ordered this from Internet Wines and Spirits, and the sixer I was sent had a bottled on date of June 03. A stale sample for sure.

bottle-Pours a deep brown, almost black with lots of carbonation. 90% opaque. small tan head that didn't last very long. Huge roasted oat aroma, toffee, coffee, and nuts. good, robust flavor, but thin body. That is somewhat a problem with most oatmeal stouts. Very fizzy with lots of action on the toungue. A good oatmeal stout, but this style is somewhat thin by default. Thanks to MJR for hooking me up with this brew as part of my secret santa present.

Good aroma. Taste is slightly burnt and slightly sweet. Hops are balanced, and the body is ok but starts out watery. Finish is good, but could loose the dryness and slight alcohol bite. Good stuff overall.
