3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A: Pours a dark brown (with ruby red edges) body, with a dinky, .5 finger tan colored head of low retention and lacing. Maybe due to how it was poured into the glass?
S: Roast, coffee, and a little oat.
T: A lot like the nose, but stronger. Starts a bit roasty, bit of chocolate in the middle, and a finish of coffee and perhaps a touch of dark fruit. The best thing about the beer IMO.
M: Honestly, feels like a porter to me. A bit watery in the first part, while the finish is kind of dry.
O: It’s ok. Nothing particularly special, but I didn’t dislike it. Still, it does need work, especially in the body’s texture.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle , bottled on 15 April, 2013, and served in a snifter at about 55F.
This Oatmeal Stout pours dark mahogany but is clear and the bottle lacks sediment. The small tan head is short-lived and lives scant lacing.
The oatmeal is evident in the aroma, flavor and soft feel. Hints of dried fruits and faint coffee add to the flavor. Low hops and carbonation.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Fiddlers. Pours black with minimal head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts. Can taste the "oatmeal" but has a metallic taste on the finish. I don't know if that is intended or not but not well received. Overall I think Schlafly makes solid beers but this is average. I will give another try at a later date to see if the metallic taste is still there.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Minimal head that quickly dissipates. The palate has a little metallic tart like finish that is a bit annoying. The appearance is a deep dark black brew with a slight reddish hue, overall a mediocre stout in my opinion.
