2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
16oz growler from Whole Foods Falls Church. Pours a clear gold with some lacing, white head. Nose is standard for the style, some light straw, some light malt, a little lemon, lightly yeasty, some mild white bread. Flavor is a bit overly sweet, a bit corny at this point, lemon, yeast. Lightly tannic finish.

From bottle. Nice crisp pils aroma, light sweetness and some noble-esque hops. No diacetyl or corn or sulfur. Pale amber clear with haze, white creamy head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Nice clean pilsner, a bit sweet with some carbonic bite. Mild bitter finish. Clean refreshing after.

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle: Poured a yellow color pilsner with a medium size foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of grainy notes is not the most pleasant. Taste is also dominated by some grainy notes with a dry finish with light spicy finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not sure if I got a bad bottle here but this was not the most pleasant and I had hard time finishing a single bottle which is not what I was expecting considering the style.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pleasant hoppy aroma. Flavor is far too sweet and sour for a German or Czech pilsner, but has hops of a similar character; metallic finish like many German beers. Hay / straw combined with a strong yeast presence in the aroma gives a pronounced barnyard character. If there is one beer that exhibits a "barnyard" characteristic, it is this one. An enjoyable beer, but I found I was better able to appreciate it once I let go my expectations of Pilsner. I would not say this is true to the style, especially not a Czech or German Pils. I would like this beer much better I think if it were lighter, crisper, and less sweet. As it is, it is drinkable and enjoyable though.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Appearance: clear bright gold with one finger of bright white head that lasts and last, with better than average lacing. Aroma: sweet creamed corn, cereal grains, grass, hay, and freshly cracked pepper. Taste: bready and surprisingly full-flavored, with honey, crackers, lemon zest, grass, hay, a hint of sweat sock, and sweet corn tamale over a good dose of floral/herbal hops. Finish: sweet bready notes last a bit, with a good dose of lasting hop character. Notes: This isn’t a pilsner that’s content to be your typical drink-it-and-forget it beer. It’s not particularly great, but it’s bold and well-constructed for what many American breweries seem to consider a "filler" to their rotation.
