Pours a slightly hazy amber with a moderate linen white head that lasted through most of the glass and left nice lacing. Pleasant aroma of pumpkin, sweet malt, and pumpkin pie spices. The flavor is a bit subdued but very well balanced with pumpkin, sweet malt and pumpkin pie spice all present. The alcohol was very well hidden. One of the better pumpkin ales I have tried this year. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Where do I start with this beer. had a nice amber color with little to no head. Had a nutmeg and clove spice aroma. The palate was amazing when it first hits the taste buds. It was like eating a piece of pumkin pie after a nice Thanksgiving dinner. The 8% was nicely masked and the finish was very balanced. Thumbs up to Schlafly for this great fall beer. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Pours a very dark amber color with no head. Smell is nutmeg and clover. Not getting all the cinnamon that was advertised, but still a decent nose. Taste is exactly the same as the nose. Taste has a acidic, bitterness taste to it. Medium body in the mouthfeel. This is a very sessionable beer, but at 8% it will definitely be felt. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Burnt orange pour. Interesting nose of cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg in the nose. Loads of caramel malt creates a nice back for the additions. Sweet caramel continues in the body with additional notes of honey and gingerbread. Finishes with a healthy dose of white sugar and spicy alcohol. Very well done! mkofron (155), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Sep 18, 2007 Only the second pumpkin ale I’ve tried, but this was very good. Clear amber with minimal head. Pumpkin pie aroma. Pumpkin flavor much more apparent in this brew than with the DFH Punkin Ale. I plan on sampling plenty more this fall. drfabulous (1235), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 16, 2007 Rich in pumpkin flavors. Spices are dominant. In the genre of the "pumpkin beer," they’ve done a decent job. Too bad it isn’t cold enough out to enjoy the flavors. You need a good 50 degree night for this beer.
