2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Rated 4/6/13. 12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy reddish-amber color. The head is a two finger white shade. Extremely frothy in texture, it doesnít have the best retention by any means, but it leaves some nice lacing on the glass.
S: There definitely is a note of raspberry in here...only problem is, it comes across in a rather unpleasant manner - dare I say like a cross between stomach acid and pure butter. Yikes, not good.
T: Better than the crappy aroma indicated. Itís still hilariously buttery at times, but there is a decent raspberry flavor in the midtaste. The more I sip, the less the butter flavors appear and the more it transforms into a generic wheat character with augmenting raspberry notes. On the plus side, thereís minimal cloying sweetness.
M: Light and crisp, with strong carbonation. If the flavors were better, this would be spectacularly easy to drink - it still kind of is, though.
O: Not Schlaflyís finest work by any stretch. The lack of overdone sweetness is good, so itís only a subpar wheat ale (NOT a hefeweizen, damn you!) with a bit of raspberry tartness instead of a disastrously artificial sugar bomb. Nothing I need to ever have again, however.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours lightly pink. Like thin red grapefruit juice. Aroma is tart, light raspberry. Flavor is tart american style wheat with a nice bit of raspberry. Easy to drink and not overly sweet with fake fruit.

Smells and tastes a little like raspberry flavored seltzer water. It grew on me as we drank it.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
NOt sure what makes it a hefeweizen. Weak tart raspberry flavors with a grainy bill at the end.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle from a Total Wine. Poured a ruby color, pretty beer - with a small off-white head. Aroma was a nice light raspberry one, with some light sweet malt character. Flavor was a bit artificial, with some metallic notes. Itís refreshing enough on a super hot day, but itís lacking something.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours an amber color with a pink hue and a tight soapy off white head. Aroma is bready light raspberry and that is about it. Taste biscuit bready with faint raspberry little spice and malty finish. Palate is light crisp slightly chewy.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 oz. bottle from Old Town. Aroma: I was expecting a raspberry bomb, but the nose actually gives you a typical Hefeweizen vibe- slightly tart wheat, a hint of banana, some light spiciness. Raspberry is in there, but itís surprisingly subtle. Appearance: Unfiltered, tinted rosť pour with some suggestion of carbonation; a foamy off-white head fades into a patchy skin. Flavor: Just as the nose, the typical hefeweizen flavors are most noticeable off the bat; raspberry becomes more prevalent towards the finish, also imparting a very light tartness; the finish dries out completely with a lingering grassy note. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Much better than many are suggesting here; at least I think so. A really well constructed summer quencher.
