3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft at tasting room in STL. Pours black, no real head to speak of. Nose shows raspberry in full force but also lots of chocolate and roasty malt. Taste is a bit sharp, with seeds and char notes showing up, but not in a bad way. This is a lively flavor, and quite fruity. Interesting. Very good, and dangerous in its ability to hide the ABV.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tasted from keg at the 2013 Schlafly Hop in The City festival in a mini weiss glass. Dark reddish brown colour with thin but lasting beige foam, a little lace. It smelled and tasted strongly of raspberries, yes, but cooked-down raspberry syrup or jelly. Very caramelly, toasty, tart. Couldnít really discern any bourbon-barrel notes underneath the fruitiness. Heavy-bodied, full mouthfeel, hot alcohol, sticky mouthfeel and aftertaste. Iíll admit Iím seldom a fan of berry beers, but this is a cleverly crafted one. Good not great.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I really dug this beer at GTMW. Reminded me of TH raspberry roulette but a bit more muted. Nice stout with strong raspberry in the nose and finish.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours dark brown with an off-white head. The aroma has lots of raspberries. The dark roast is noticeable, but the primary trait is lots of big raspberries with some cocoa. It has a medium body that seems light for the style and has fairly soft carbonation. The flavor begins with raspberries (seems like you can taste the seeds even), roasty malt, some char and roasty malt. Not getting a lot of bourbon barrel - could be the sweetness of raspberries is muting that aspect. The finish has some char and earthiness. There is a lingering raspberry and char that stays in the mount. Quite nice.
