COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is aged on new Missouri oak. The wood has a medium toast, which helps to caramelize the sugars in the oak and adds a nutty character to the beer as it soaks into the wood. Leave the corkscrew in the kitchen drawer and pop open a beer that will reward you with more flavors than most wines can dream of.

Bottle shared @ Crooked Stave ROY-G-BIV Day. 2010 Vintage. Pour is deep crimson with a small white head that quickly dissipated. Slightly oxidized aroma - dark fruits, caramel, earthy hops, red licorice, and oak. Taste is big oak, lightly grass, semi-sweet, bready, doughy, a touch of spice, vanilla, and toffee - pretty smooth. Medium body with soft carbonation. This one aged decently, but there was definitely some oxidation present. Not bad.

Jess aged this beer for 3 years before we tasted it. Mellow with almost no trace of bitterness. Wonderful plum and alcohol nose. Reddish brown, somewhat flat and watery.

2012 25.4oz bomber into Spiegelau Soiree snifter @ 55°; deep vibrant amber body beneath a 2.5" tight light khaki head, fading to a solid sheet with eclectic lace all around; fruity English esters and citrus notes mingle with fresh cut wood merging into creamy fig and caramel malts; taste follows on a warming mmh body; spirit like notes and drying wood finish with some citrus in the background; definitely worth grabbing again, and readily available in my area

Pour is dark red/brown with a light tan head. Nose is malty with hints of fruits like dark cherry and currant. Taste is malt, malt and more malt. The sweetness is well balanced with hop bitterness to give a nice balanced flavor. Mouthfeel is medium and has nice effervescence with a nice but not too lingering aftertaste. Overall very good. Aroma of apricot, grapefruit, rye and dates. Pours red and hazy with good fuzzy head. Taste is super hoppy with good bitter grass, sweet caramel, and nice malt. Not too exciting.

Sample of 2006-2011 vintages at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: Reviewing the 2009 which was my favorite of the bunch. Murky brownish-amber color with a medium light beige head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing. The aroma is oaky with malt and vanilla notes. Full-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, oak, vanilla and raisins. The finish is sweet with an oaky vanilla aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Bottle shared at Craft Beer Share. Poured translucent coppery, the color of single malt bourbon, with similar nose. A lot of oak, caramel, fuselly head, mild fruit, honey in the nose. Tasted complex, hot, oaky, with flavors of oaky caramel malt, some mid-palate oaky honey sweetness to match the alcohol burn, and more oak and heat in the finish. This one kicks the doors off the beer/spirit boundary.

2008 Vintage bottle from Muckey’s. Pours out a deep opaque amber with an thin tan lace. Fine bubby carbonation though. Aroma of sweet oak. Flavor is earthy and oaky. Very smooth with notes of sweet prune and raisins. Some herbal vanilla on the backside, but a bit too sweet on the finish.

Reddish brown with a small tan head. The aroma was dark fruits and oak. It was smooth with a medium body.
