4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared at Craft Beer Share. Poured translucent coppery, the color of single malt bourbon, with similar nose. A lot of oak, caramel, fuselly head, mild fruit, honey in the nose. Tasted complex, hot, oaky, with flavors of oaky caramel malt, some mid-palate oaky honey sweetness to match the alcohol burn, and more oak and heat in the finish. This one kicks the doors off the beer/spirit boundary.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2008 Vintage bottle from Muckey’s. Pours out a deep opaque amber with an thin tan lace. Fine bubby carbonation though. Aroma of sweet oak. Flavor is earthy and oaky. Very smooth with notes of sweet prune and raisins. Some herbal vanilla on the backside, but a bit too sweet on the finish.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours hazy very deep reddish amber with a medium sized creamy beige head. The aroma is oak, toasted caramel, ripe fruit, sweet malt and some biscuits. The flavour is rather sweet. Notes of malt, Dark ripe berries, loads of oak, light tobacco and I also catch cedar tree in the finish. Quite sweet overall but still a treat.

Serving: 750 ml bottle from Total Wine Sterling. It pours a hazy orangish brown with a decent tan head. The nose has lot of caramel and dried fruit notes. The alcohol is a little obvious on the palate with decent notes of oak, caramel, dried fruit, and vanilla. A little hot on the finish.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
2007. 1 pt., 9.4 oz. bottle. Served in a snifter. Pours a rich caramel color with no head. Caramel in the nose. Hints of oak and vanilla in the taste. Boozy but incredibly smooth. The six years that have passed since this beer was bottled have treated it well. Here’s to hoping that the more recent bottlings age similarly!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Found this dusty 2008 at a store on Long Island. Opened on New Years Eve with Ray and Chris. Murky brown pour with thin tan head. Sweet honey nose with some oak. Taste of vanilla, bourbon, honey, oak. Pleasantly surprised by this.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 4/20
2009 vintage opened New Year’s Eve 2012. I opened this bottle with an open mind thinking I might actually like it. It was fine except for the bitter finish. That killed it for me and turned me off to it. I poured the balance of the bottle down the sink. I have the new 2012 vintage now in the cellar aging. Hopefully it will be an improvement from the 2009.
