COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is aged on new Missouri oak. The wood has a medium toast, which helps to caramelize the sugars in the oak and adds a nutty character to the beer as it soaks into the wood. Leave the corkscrew in the kitchen drawer and pop open a beer that will reward you with more flavors than most wines can dream of.

Very soft aroma. Oak blends nicely with the heavy malt backbone. Small hint of bourbon association. Hop profile takes a backseat to the malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2008 Bottle thanks to the neighbor (Ian) downstairs. Pours am amber color with very little head. Aroma is sweet, oaky and vanilla, plenty of barrel with a strong english toffee character. Some light fruity notes and a soft breadiness. Flavor is similar, lots of oak and woodiness, vanilla, almond nuttiness, some doughy notes with the english barleywine, fruity. Medium to full body and a soft carbonation. Very good

Shared by Ryan, has a nice amber pour, sweet caramel and bread scents. Taste is a little lacking compared to the scent, little bit of caramel and spice, has a bit of heat in the finish.

November 16, 2012 bottle from Wine and Cheese in STL. Light brown pour with some head. Aroma was caramel, wood, bread, alcohol. Taste was predominantly wood with some nutty and caramel. Very slight alcohol in the finish, but for over 10% this hides it very well. 2011 bottle.

Poured from bottle, 2011 edition, pours a clear dark amber with an off white head, the aroma was very sweet with a good amount of malt and caramel, a tad of the oak vanilla comes through, the flavor has a nice sweet front end with a good amount of vanilla as well, there is a little bit of the alcohol in the finish, nice mouthfeel, good stuff.

Good taste but a little tart at first, mellows as palate gets used to the flavor. Overall great beer.
