3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared at the Columbus Tasting V: Orange/amber pour with a small off white head. Aroma of toffee, booze, candied fruits, and caramel malt came through with some light oak elements. Flavor was a bit hot...booze, toffe, caremel malt and a bit of red pepper. Hot and spicy mouthfeel...full body with a boozey hot finish. Nice attempt, but the execution is a bit muddled...too hot to feel any sort of balance.

Thankfully the clerk at the local shop let me know she thought this was much better close to room temperature. I hadnít heard the best about this one, but was presently surprised. Pours deep bronze / caramel with a beige head. The aroma is quite sweet with breadiness, biscuit, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, chestnet, passion fruit, red grapes and a hint of oak. Full body with a moderate amount of carbonation. The flavor starts with lots of biscuit, heavy sweet malt, some oak that seems more nutty than oaky, roasted toffee and some alcohol warmth. The finish adds maple syrup and more oakiness. This was a pleasant surprise. The Missouri brewers seem to be stepping it up lately. Now Iím getting psyched about the Boulevard 750s due out later this year.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours copper-brown, massive head that dies slowly, no lacing. Aroma is big brown sugar, woody notes, sharp alcohol, and a lemony note. Flavor is smooth compared to the fresh, un-casked version of this beer. The sharp hops have mellowed down. Starts out sweet, maple syrup, brown sugar, transitions to real woody tones, sharp hops, grassy notes, and one of the longest finishes Iíve ever experienced: brief smoke, tobacco, and an extended fig flavor for minutes afterwards. Definitely buying more to lay down for a while.

had this a few times already but most recent is best. aroma is florat, strong caramel, vanilla, and notes of fruitiness. quite nice. taste is sort of candied sweetness. it has caramel, vanilla, and this smooth bourbon tastes similar to a good sipping whiskey. finishes with a wodsy dry bitterness with notes floral character in there.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Courtesy of Styles. The aroma is somewhat weak for a Barley Wine. Light notes of caramel, fruit, and alcohol. It pours a transparent amber with a minimal beige head. The flavor starts with caramel, vanilla, and some faint bitter chocolate. The finish has some subtle alcohol notes and light oak. The alcohol increases a touch as it warms.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The body is a dark amber hue that is covered by a thin fizzy head for only a few minutes. Warming aroma - caramel, cherries, oak, vanilla, alcohol, light brown sugar, and a soft floral hopping. Smooth. Very fruity to drink but with a sweetness thatís cut by the alcohol, wood, mildly bitter nuts, and a quiet earthiness. Finishes somewhat sweet, sticky, with a low alcohol burn. Very decent beer.

Shame on you murawksi....Schalfly deserves some props...competing with AB in their hometown is no small feat. I will take a counter point to your review and say that as a Schlafly fan, I was as not impressed with the barleywine as I couldíve been. I had purchased this special request from my local liquor store for $8.99 for a 750ml. I found my bottle overly sweet with a banana flavor that I just couldnít get used to. Bad bottle? Who knows....One good thing...the alcohol content was well masked by the flavor...as evidenced by my headache the next day...

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Burnt amber, white fizzy head. Complex nose as it warmed with notes of candied tropical fruit, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, and soft booze. Fruity oak flavors throughout, touches of vanilla, coconut, and faint bourbon tones are well balanced by the high hop undertone. Full bodied, moderate carbonation, lightly sweet alcoholic finish. Thanks for sharing Hopscotch....

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle... Hazy, dark orange ale with a small, frothy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is of juicy tropical and citrus fruits, vanilla, coconut and oak. Well-balanced flavor. Boozy, with sourmash, caramel and coconut and medium bitterness. Full-bodied and creamy with fizzy carbonation. Finishes warm and lightly sweet. Big THANKS to vyvvy for the bottle!

This is probably one of the worst barleywines ive ever tasted. Aroma had a little oak and some brown sugar. Sweet and had a taste similar to paper. I dont know what it was about this but i just did not enjoy it that much.
