(750ml bottle thanks to SaucerSam) cloudy medium brown, soapy creamy tan bubbles. Nose of graham crackers, bourbon barrel, cream, lactose, alcohol, vanilla. Taste is oddly fruity, huge barrel flavor, vanilla, plum/raisin, some odd flavors working together here but smells great.

Thanks Dave! Pours a reddish/brown with a smallish tan head with small lacing. Candied fruit, rich malt, caramel. Taste follows nose with a little bitter/dry to it on the aftertaste. Medium body, delicate carbonation..pretty nice. Overall a decent sipper.

Pours deep brown/ruby with a thin tan head. Aroma has bourbon, dark fruit, and dark roastiness. Flavor has brown sugar, molasses, and nice bourbon...a bit boozy. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is sweet roasty bourbon...very warming.

2012 bomber into a tulip. The aroma is overall mild with currents of coffee, caramel, and roasted malts, and the appearance has a pure black color with a very small off-white head. The taste is quite bitter, quite umami, and slightly sweet with perhaps a touch of a burn from alcohol, which you can tell is a direct result of the bourbon barrels; also, the palate combines a medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, and a long bitter finish. Honestly, this beer isn’t too appealing, nor is it too pleasing to sip upon. I’m disappointed in Schlafly for this one.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2013 From a 75 cl bottle shared with Westchesterco and Ryan. Vintage 2011. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate and oak. Chocolate dominates the flavor, with notes of raisins, caramel, oak and vanilla. Somewhat boozy, bourbon finish. Nice.
Update for vintage 2008 shared at home, thanks to Andrew. Aged well. Mellower, but still with a boozy, bourbon finish.
