On tap at local shop; really surprised, since I didnt have high expectations, not a bourbon fan. Def. worth a try again, Schlafly is one of the best out there. Price is a little scary for most, but its next on my list of 6-packs.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle - pours unfiltered caramel with rich with tan head and decent lacing. Nose is bourbon and oak. Flavor is brown sugar, caramel and floral hops. Taste is sweet and ends on a tiny bitter note. So far this is the only bourbon flavored beer I’ve ever liked. There is hope that there are more out there! Pretty smooth. Burning gums from the alcohol.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(12oz bottle). Pours a murky orange-brown color with off-white head that falls to ring the glass. Aroma has caramel, bourbon, fruit which is almost citrusy. Taste is sweet with more of the citrus (orange) notes. Full bodied with a sticky texture. A bit of alcohol burn on the tongue and warmth that finds its way to the throat and chest. Decent, if not interesting, brew.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. The pour was a murky medium brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) creamy light brown head that reduced to just a thin film on top and did have good sticky lacing.
The aroma was fairly mild of a toasted cereal malt and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of caramel, toffee, vanilla, dark fruit and a hint of bourbon.
The taste was sweet and malty with a nice note of caramel to start and finished sweetly acidic with hints of dark fruit and toffee and had a mild bourbon alcohol tinge at the end. The flavor was only around for a short while after the swallow and was mostly of a sweet fruit and malts.
Mouthfeel was between light and medium in body with a creamy, syrupy texture and a soft carbonation.
Overall a nice smooth a mellow bourbon aged ale with no heavy alcohol taste at all.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle poured into a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale snifter.
Appearance is a hazy dark orange with a tiny head that quickly dissipates. Not really any lacing.
Smells is heavy sweet caramel and vanilla. Not a strong bourbon note but you can tell it’s there.
Flavor is fairly sweet with caramel being predominant. The bourbon is not quite as prominent as I would have liked and almost seems to take a back seat. Vanilla and oak are there but caramel dominates. Mouthfeel is full.
This is a good beer but still doesn’t stand up to kentucky bourbon barrel ale. If the sweetness was just toned down a bit and the bourbon a little more pronounced this beer would be amazing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle. Not sure where I got this, but thank you to whomever sent this to me! Aroma is Bourbon, wood, coconut, brown sugar. I automatically thought this was going to be an Imperial Stout, I guess just by the name which says "BOURBON BARREL" in huge letters across the bottle. So I was surprised when this light brown, almost amber colored beer poured out. I’m digging this - It kind of has all of the qualities of a Bourbon barrel aged Imperial stout, but without all of the booze and sweetness. Not bad at all.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
An amber-brown pour with a tan head. The initial aroma is caramel malt and bread, but then the bourbon kicks in. It has a full body with a slick texture and average carbonation. The taste is malty and mildly sweet. There is a subtle bourbon flavor and warmth in the finish.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is the color of ice tea with a nice tan head. This beer does have legs and holds very well. The nose is slightly bourbon and vanilla. Taste has more bourbon. It is almost like taking a light brown ale and barrel aging it for less than a month. It would be a good BA alternative to stout in the summer months but not much more.
