Schlafly Tasmanian IPA is brewed with 100% Australian hops. The Tasmanian hop, Galaxy, is a strong, aromatic variety that is different from traditional strains of the Pacific Northwest. Our brewers developed a recipe that showcases the hop’s unique flavors of citrus and pineapple.

Pours a straw color with minimal head. Bright citrus notes followed by a well balanced maltiness. The Australian hops in this beer are phenomenal. Definately another Schlafly special release winner. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Churchkey. Uberclear light gold with bubbly foam on the edges of the glass. Nose and flavor are rife with stunning pineapple and tropical fruit flavors, along with clean lemongrass and pine bitterness. Vibrant, bright, and so clean on the palate. Reminds me of a new-age, NZ/Aussie hop Two Hearted. So good.

Pint at Bigelo’s. This beer was crystal clear and golden. A small head left very light lacing. Malts were light with this beer and it was brewed to highlight the hops which do indeed shine. A complex aroma of fruits and a hint of spices. The flavor matches that. It was also a bit vegetable but just a bit. A hint of cinnamon. This is a delight to drink.

Pours clear yellow golden with a soapy white head. Far lighter than you’d expect for an IPA. The aroma has orange/grapefruit citrus, pineapple, funk and big floral traits with just a bit of malt for balance - very hop forward. Fairly light body that is a bit rough with a bit of underscored prickly carbonation. The flavor begins very hop forward with the zesty citrus of the aroma, pine and some earthiness. The pineapple and funk are on the finish, but nowhere near the extent they are on the aroma. The malt is barely noticeable. This was bottled three days ago, so the malt may be noticeable if this wasn’t ridiculously fresh. A home run here. At this point this is my favorite IPA from Schlafly. For a brewery that took a while to embrace hops, they are doing great things with them now.

Tap at bottleworks. Pour is unassuming clear gold with a small white head. Aroma and flavor are pure with citrus and pineapple hop notes dominating. a nice malty bacground supports the hops and a the body of the beer is light with enough girth to support the hops. A hop-forward offering done well. I enjoyed this.

Tasted on tap at the Bottleworks. It poured a mostly clear golden color with chill haze, moderate off-white foam and some lasting lace. Unfamiliar hops aromas: mellow citrus (not grapefruit), grilled pineapple, other nebulous fruit, with an interesting musty earthiness. Struck me as a sorta exotic Goldings. I think I must really like Galaxy hops; this is one of the most intriguing beer smells in awhile, cooler than Nelson Sauvin in my opinion. Faint grainy and ale yeast aromas underneath. Flavor was comparatively neutral, little grain complexity, but malt was nicely balanced by restrained hops bitterness/flavor. I for one, appreciate a less-aggressive high-grav IPA. Light-medium body and carbonation. Tangy, well-rounded mouthfeel. Extremely well-concealed alcohol (remember this is 20% higher ABV than Bud Light Platinum, for instance!). A very approachable, expertly crafted "Australian IPA."
