Schlafly Tasmanian IPA is brewed with 100% Australian hops. The Tasmanian hop, Galaxy, is a strong, aromatic variety that is different from traditional strains of the Pacific Northwest. Our brewers developed a recipe that showcases the hopís unique flavors of citrus and pineapple.

Reviewed 3/1/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a hazy straw color. The head is a two finger white shade with a nice, creamy texture. As per usual in the style, it leaves rings of lacing as it recedes down the glass. S: I really like the tropical fruit bend this one offers. Augmenting the fruitiness is some herbal pine characteristics. Sadly, itís nowhere near as showstopping as it could be (or probably was; the bottleís over 2 months old), largely due to a lot of biscuity malt shining through. T: A lot of melon, mango, papaya, and guava appears at first, before spiking in intensity at the midtaste. The finish introduces a moderately bitter, peppery bite thatís almost minty at times. For a two month old IPA featuring a feeble malt backbone, this is downright fantastic. M: Light and crisp, yet with a surprising level of creaminess to meld with the smooth yet firm carbonation. The flavors leave the palate quickly as they should in an IPA of this nature. Almost supremely refreshing; if the finishing astringency was cleaned up a smidge, Iíd reckon the score here would be even higher. O: The apex of this offeringís hop profile may have been lost - but the thirst-quenching, easy drinking demeanor definitely hasnít. Iíd seriously consider buying this by the case when itís fresh and in season.

Loads of pineapple on the nose to match the yellow hue and foamy white head. Medium heavy mouthfeel with light bitterness and lots of citrus, mostly pineapple but with a bit of other citrus fruits. Light carbonation leaves the mouth a bit too unbalanced with some sweetness to aid. Low malts may strengthen the citrus hop notes, but leave this brew wanting some help to balance. Still interesting and a pretty solid show from this St Louis brewer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear appealing pour with a substantial head. The flavor is full of Galaxy flavor, with tropical fruits and bitterness. There also some malty sugar in there.

Bottle: Thanks, Mark! Slightly hazy, yet radiant sunshine yellow body with a foamy white head that turns to a soapy skin in just a few moments. Aroma is an incredibly unique blend of fruits that Iíve never gotten before... Lots of pineapple, melon, persimmon, mango, passion fruit, perhaps a touch of bubblegumm-y sweetness. Very different, but a lovely fruit essence. A hint of dankness in the finish. Taste has a mellow, rolling bitterness but a bit of gummy malt sweetness to really make the hop flavors seem juicy. Honeydew, melon, pineapple, mango... Tropical, mostly, with a stronger perfume oil & herbal pepper presence, too. Smooth, slick, slightly dry finish. Gotta say, this stuff was very tasty & super unique.

bottle @ Pompilioís / Newport KY --- Clear straw color with 1/2" white head that never gives up, bands of lace. Taste begins with caramel malt, but it is overwhelmed in the palate by assertive citrus hops. In the end, the hops canít hold the field and yield to the return of the malt, which lingers nicely in a long finish. One of the best from Schlafly.

Pours a nice amber color with white head. Citrus, pine, floral, and resin notes on the nose; follow onto the palate. Finishes with a fairly sweet note.

Nice IPA with tons of orange. All around this reminds me of lightly bitter and sweet malted orange juice. Tasty and drinkable with some light tropical fruit notes as well.

Bottle thanks to pepsican. Very light and drinkable, a little old but I knew that going in, good citrus hop flavors very light and extremely drinkable

12 oz bottled almost 4 months ago, purchased at Hy-Vee Muscatine and poured into a pint glass at home. Orange and cloudy appearance with a rocky, lasting white head, thick lacing. Fresh, pleasant aroma of citrus zest, tropical fruits, floral notes and light herbs. Flavor is medium plus bitterness, resinous, fruity hops, mildly sweet, toasty malts and light spice. Medium body, crisp and kind of dry with a lingering resinous finish. Pretty smooth and refreshing. Enjoyed side by side with their American IPA (3.6)
