4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Reviewed 3/1/13. 12 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass.
A: Pours a hazy straw color. The head is a two finger white shade with a nice, creamy texture. As per usual in the style, it leaves rings of lacing as it recedes down the glass.
S: I really like the tropical fruit bend this one offers. Augmenting the fruitiness is some herbal pine characteristics. Sadly, itís nowhere near as showstopping as it could be (or probably was; the bottleís over 2 months old), largely due to a lot of biscuity malt shining through.
T: A lot of melon, mango, papaya, and guava appears at first, before spiking in intensity at the midtaste. The finish introduces a moderately bitter, peppery bite thatís almost minty at times. For a two month old IPA featuring a feeble malt backbone, this is downright fantastic.
M: Light and crisp, yet with a surprising level of creaminess to meld with the smooth yet firm carbonation. The flavors leave the palate quickly as they should in an IPA of this nature. Almost supremely refreshing; if the finishing astringency was cleaned up a smidge, Iíd reckon the score here would be even higher.
O: The apex of this offeringís hop profile may have been lost - but the thirst-quenching, easy drinking demeanor definitely hasnít. Iíd seriously consider buying this by the case when itís fresh and in season.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow color with straw colored hues and a one finger, frothy white head that slowly settles into a thin, lasting ring. Pretty good retention with spotty lacing coating the glass on the way down.
Earthy, floral aroma with lots of oily hops and pine needle countered by subtle citrus fruit sweetness and a pale malt backbone. Dank and resinous with fresh buds, grass and pine sap followed by faint hints of grapefruit, pineapple and orange peel. Some biscuit-y malts in there as well with hints of bread and light fruit. The hops are fresh and juicy but since they primarily use Galaxy/Austrailan hops, I was expecting more of tropical/citrus presence in the nose.
Medium body with tight carbonation and a blast of dry, earthy bitterness that lingers over the sweeter notes and pale malt backbone into a bone dry finish. A bit sweeter than the nose suggests but the flavor is dominated by sticky, piney hops. Very dry with lots of resinous hop oils, grassy pine needle, spruce tip and dank nuggets. This is followed by a subtle summit/onion flavor and a bit of juicy tropical fruit sweetness. Hints of grapefruit, pineapple and lemon peel cut through the bitterness but it could use a lot more to balance things out. Underneath, thereís a subtle pale malt backbone that provides hints if bread, biscuit and some sweeter light fruit flavors, especially apple. The mouthfeel falls off a bit toward the end of the palate, finishing slightly watery. The ABV is nicely masked making this beer pretty easy to drink but the hop flavors are slightly one dimensional. Thereís not enough sweetness for my preference and the summit/onion flavor comes on very strong toward the back end with an unpleasant lingering aftertaste.

Drank this out of a twelve ounce bottle, thank you Danny! Has a very hoppy aroma. Has a good flavor for an IPA but the hop profile has a bit of a spice to it.

Breaking my anti-Schlaf to try their top rated IPA.Sorry bro. Bottle from Cork in Rockford. Yellow golden pour almost no head. Aroma has heavy citrus, fruits, and light pine; a bit raw. Taste is of citrus, other fruits, chewy resin, light pine. Medium bodied, very dry hopped. Finishes more bitter than sweet. Solid effort. 13.8

Iíve tried a couple of other Aussie Galaxy-hopped beers previously, and they didnít blow me away, but they were good. This one has that unique Aussie Galaxy hops flavor with maltiness thatís sort of similar to English IPAs. Itís very good, though the ABV is just a tiny, tiny bit too obvious for me. Glad I tried it....another Schlafly beer that doesnít suck, good job guys.

Cant believe the ratings on this one. Sampled on tap at Mile, pours clearish golden with small head and lace. Notes are grape perfume, and grape lollipop but no dank galaxy. Medium bodied.
