COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlafly Tripel has patiently awaited joining the ranks of our bottle-conditioned Belgian-style ale series. It was the first festival ale for our HOP in the City beer festival which makes it dear to us. Tripel is hearty with a golden hue and a rich, fruity character. While this ale is light in color, it is fuller bodied than many darker ales. The characteristics make it a great after-dinner drink and a perfect complement to aged cheeses and fruity desserts. We age this ale for months before it touches a bottle, but, if you have the will power, it will improve for years to come.

hotstuff (3953) - Indiana, USA - APR 14, 2014
Rated on 7-06-2011 (Bottle) This beer pours a medium sized frothy, fizzy white head that mostly diminishes, transparent golden body lively, fast rising carbonation, and a fair amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is rich malt, sweet, fruity, and some clove. The taste is semi-sweet, malty, fruity, candy sugar, rich, clove, and has a semi-dry finish. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. This is a sipping beer at 10%ABV. The flavor seemed a bit off and thus makes this beer a disappointment for me since this is one of my favorite beer styles.

tectactoe (1169) - Michigan, USA - MAR 17, 2014
Bottle: Thanks, Jason! Hazed, golden-yellow color with a foamy white film & collar resting softly on top. Aroma has some grass, grains, a hint of lactic tartness, slight yeast, mild funk, & a finish of lemon zest. Almost like a cross between tripel & Berliner weisse. Taste is very, very spicy Belgian yeast, more so than the aroma indicates. White pepper, bittering ashy hops, potent phenols, some mint, abrasive yeasty esters, a closing touch of clove, & a solidifying barnyard essence from start to finish. Thick bodied, high & sharp carbonation. Aroma & taste didn’t match... smelled more soft & tart, taste was quite aggressive with lots of spicy Belgian yeast. Not bad, but not really my thing.

Bottle: The aroma consists of citrus, yeast, apple, and a touch of spice. It pours a transparent golden-orange with a one finger white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. There’s a good amount of thin webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with citrus, candi sugar, light honey, and yeast. The finish apple, faint floral notes, and a hint of alcohol. It’s medium bodied with moderate-lively carbonation.

A golden ale with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet candy sugar malt with fruity notes, coriander, light creamy notes, OK. In mouth, sweet candy sugar malt with citrusy pulp, grassy hops, alcohol warmth, OK. Bottle from GRM.

Tap pours a hazy golden yellow with a finger of white foam. The aroma is musty Belgian pale malts. The flavor starts with a light tartness and rich Belgian musty flavor, very grainy. It stays musty but some sweetness comes in, it is quite simple and easy to drink for 10%. The brew gets a little stronger with warmth but doesn’t get too abrasive or sweet, it retains an old Belgian musty funky earthy feel throughout with some lemon peel coming out as it warms a while adding depth. Interesting and we’ll done.

No bottling information, yellow cap.
Appearance: The body is cloudy with pale straw edges that get darker through the center into a an ugly orange brown. The head is tall and dense, but fluffy, with good retention. It settles into a creamy white coating.
Aroma: The aroma is a fruity medley with hints of lemon, banana, and strawberry. Hints of alcohol are apparent with a mild floral dryness. The aroma leans sweet though.
Taste: This is pretty intense for a tripel, but in a good way. The intro is dry with hints of floral and lemon, but it becomes a very strong malty beer with overlying banana and strawberry. Alcohol is present by the finish along with light black pepper and clove. The finish lingers of sweet a banana and a lingering alcohol. This drinks nice.
Palate: Full bodied, nearing thick, with high carbonation.
Overall: I think this is a good beer. It’s not very traditional, but it’s enjoyable, despite the alcohol presence.
