COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This strong, full-bodied, golden ale is brewed with a Belgian yeast, which gives it a rich fruity character. This is NOT your typical yellow beer. (Available early December.)

Hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish off-white head and some movement in the bottom of the glass. Aroma of yeast, wheat, honey, flowers and a bit of pungent banana sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hay and wheat flavours at first with a lot of honey and some strong yet deep banana and coriander seed flavours on top of some wheat. Aftertaste shows well with the yeast and sweetness dominating and a touch of the drying characteristics noticeable. Overall, a good beer - definitely nice to try and a perfect beer to share, especially for the price! I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Giant in Manassas, Virginia for US$5.99 sampled on 12-July-2011.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color ale with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of sweet Belgian-style malt with some spicy yeasty notes and quite a bit of residual sugar. Taste is also a mix between some Belgian-style malt notes with light candy ester and quite a bit of residual sugar with a light peppery yeast finish. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Enjoyable thought a bit too much residual sugar for my liking.

On tap, it poured a cloudy gold color with a small white head. The aroma was of yeast, with some banana, clove, pear and apples. It had a smooth mouthfeel. The taste was malty, with some ripe fruit and a sweet finish. Good stuff.

750 ml. bottled Aug 28, 2012. Lightly hazy amber-copper with a quarter inch of cream. Earthy grape must, toffee, rusted apple and white wine in the aroma. Flavors of oxidized pears and apples baked in spices, brown sugar, and white wine. Medium body is fairly balanced, has medium carbonation but drinks nice and soft, and is a little too boozy.

Tap @ Schlafly St. Louis. Pours a clear, golden appearance with a white head. Spicy yeasty, banana, phenolic, lemon nose. Somewhat boozy, lightly spicy, banana, pear flavor. Ok.

On tap at Schlafly Taproom. Pours a slightly hazy golden color with white head. Yeasty, malty, a touch of alcohol. Interesting tripel, but doesn’t quite do it for me.

Wow -- a strong tripel. Very juicy up front, very dry on the finish. Apricot, plum, apple and doughy yeast. Malts are appropriately balanced and consistent on the palate, but they just can’t handle the extreme fruitiness of the hops (though they do an admirable job on the high alcohol content). Light toast, oats, almonds. Really delicious, as an American tripel, and adventuresome.

Pours hazy orange with tiny white head. Smells a touch fruity with some bread notes. Taste is of big white fruits and big bread notes with a touch of dry bitterness. Full bodied, smooth texture and fizzy mouth-carbonation, Schlafly Tripel finishes with a fruity dryness.

Bottle brought home by my parents in law. Hazy golden with a large white head. Aroma is perfume, yeast, spice, acetone. Flavor is yeast, perfume, alcohol, spices. Im not a tripel fan, but this is quite nice.

Sampled on tap at the 2012 Schlafly Hop In The City festival. It poured a slightly cloudy golden color with weak white foam, no lace. Unimpressive aromas of husky grain, light earthy/citrusy hops, very light Belgian yeast esters and phenols. Flavors were weak, too, with none of the complexity you’d hope for in a classic Belgian Tripel. It wasn’t nearly as harsh as a 10% ABV malt liquor, but it wasn’t particularly well-concealed either. Overall, just not very smooth and enjoyable. I sure hope the expensive bomber bottles taste better than this. Perhaps this was just a stale batch and/or didn’t benefit from festival cold-crash ice boxes.
