COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Schlafly Tripel has patiently awaited joining the ranks of our bottle-conditioned Belgian-style ale series. It was the first festival ale for our HOP in the City beer festival which makes it dear to us. Tripel is hearty with a golden hue and a rich, fruity character. While this ale is light in color, it is fuller bodied than many darker ales. The characteristics make it a great after-dinner drink and a perfect complement to aged cheeses and fruity desserts. We age this ale for months before it touches a bottle, but, if you have the will power, it will improve for years to come.

Bottle. Hazy golden pour with one finger head. Aroma of honey, yeast, bananas. Flavor is very strong yeast, with hints of vanilla, bananas and spice. Decent alcohol bite.

Pours a hazy gold with slight chill haze. Strong aroma of yeast with notes of honey and citrus. Taste of honey, banana, yeast and alcohol in the finish. Some heat to this one.

Can split with Curly and ScottyP and Barrios at the Impromtu Woody’s Ticker Tasting. Clearish yellow golden pour with slight chill haze and thin wispy whitish head. Banana, vanilla, yeast, clove, and bubblegum. Alcohol on the nose and tail, but this would definitely mellow with some age. But overall, this is kind of a fake, american try at a classic belgian style.

750, capped. Wow, what a gorgeous bottle. Thanks, BVC! Hazy medium gold with plenty of rising carb and some loose white foam. Creamy butter and green apple nose. A little bit of fusel there as well. Sharp fizzy body. Caramel, apple, and sweet cream on the mid-palate. Long creamy finish after a big boozy twang hits you.

Golden bodied with crisp head. Honey and fruit aromas with light fusels. Estery body with tangyiness and moderate fusel underpinning. This one is showing off a bit too much of its alcohol for my liking. Just saw the comment my MmmcKay regarding Boulevard’s Long Strange Tripel and couldn’t agree more. I had Boulevard’s Tripel the same day as the Schlafly and Long Strange was leaps and bounds better.

Great looking packaging, but that’s about all that I really liked about this beer. Yellow golden blond in color. This beer had very little head. The nose and flavors were very one note. That one note was of tropical fruit and more specifically banana. Below average Tripel, especially for the price, $12.99. Try Boulevard Long Strange instead.

In short: A sweet (too sweet) basic Triple. Below average for the style.
How: Bottle 750ml. Tasting session with Montreal crew.
The look: Cloudy golden blonde body topped by a small white head
In long: Taste is unfortunately dominated by honey and this sweet beer even gets crunchy-sugary. Too much residual sugars. Beneath the honey are some light but pleasant fruity notes of apricots, bananas and tropical fruits. Light fruity/citrusy hops presence but this beer needs a ton of dry/grassy noble hops. Long sweet finish. I don’t know what they were attempting here but if they tried to make a by-the-book tripel I assume they took a book written by the Ikea writing team and in which case we’re lucky we didn’t end-up with a trout flavoured beer.
