3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour is golden with a small white head. Aroma is pure sugar with a touch of citrus. Flavor is wonderful. Lots of citrus, banana and candy cane sugar. An outstanding example of the style brewed right here in my own backyard.

Draft from the Tap Room. Good banana, yeast and bread nose. Pale golden hue. Aromas of citrus, sweet yeast, bananas, bubblegum. Spiced and slightly bitter. More so like a hefe, but still very nice.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2006 Wow. Straight from the tank with Mitch from Schlafly. Pours a hazy gold, thick head and great lacing. Aroma is banana (with a hint of peel), nutmeg, clove, and sweet caramel. Slight alcohol in the nose. Flavor is BIG and complex. More of the aroma, and an incredibly dry, almost tart finish. A really great tripel.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
tap-hop in the city05-pours light orange with a sudsy white head and some lacing. sweet, grany, slightly tropical aroma-faint banans and corriander. this is more accurate than the dubbel in terms of style guidelines. wow, big sweet banana, corriander, lightly grainy and clove as well. no funk but in not expecting it from an american brewer. the abv is nowhere to be found, maybe due to some aging. some green apple comes out in the finish, showing the age of this beer. pretty tasty at least for an american trippel.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: DEC 8, 2006 I really like this stuff. I’m fortunate to live in Illinois just across the Big Muddy from "The Tap Room". I don’t think they have played around with the recipe, as it tastes the same each year: delicious! It may be a little sweet for some, maybe even cloying, but it’s surely true to the Belgian tripel style. Lots of flavors going on: banana, clove, honey, apples, alcohol warmth. Cloudy in appearance (of course, the yeast is still there), with a somewhat thick mouthfeel. Not much hoppiness, but that is to be expected in the style. This Belgian ale never fails to impress me. I look forward to Schlafly’s annual heavy beers around the holidays. The imperial stout at Thanksgiving, the tripel in mid-December, and the barleywine for Christmas/New years. I love them all, but the tripel is my hands-down favorite. 12/15/05 Better now than ever! Taste and palate are the same but I need to rate higher this year.

(Draught- new batch) Yellow gold, rapidly fading head. Fruity-yeasty aroma. Flavor with hints of green apples, Belgian-yeasty flavors.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Draft at Brewery - Also served way too cold with terrible carbonation. Tasted like alcohol, artificial sweetner. Seems like their draft beer just plain sucks at the brewery. I'll stick witht the bottles.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
This rating was from the Hop In The City event where brews from the previous year were sampled (5 oz) by the attendees from kegs. This brew poured a large head of fine to large sized white long lasting bubbles that left behind a hazy light brown colored body and an excellent lacing. It had a strong floral aroma and a smooth mouthfeel. The flavor was very complex with elements of fruit, flowers a,d sweet malt in it.

2.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
This was disgusting, save for the perfumey aroma. I could barely choke down the sweet, peaches & cream (but artificial) cloying juice. Better than the dubbel, thats really all I can say. Please don't waste your money, time and palate.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Spicy with soft fruit like flavors, perhaps even bannana. Very well balanced. A pleasant surprise after the sub par dubbel.
