Schlafly Tripel has patiently awaited joining the ranks of our bottle-conditioned Belgian-style ale series. It was the first festival ale for our HOP in the City beer festival which makes it dear to us. Tripel is hearty with a golden hue and a rich, fruity character. While this ale is light in color, it is fuller bodied than many darker ales. The characteristics make it a great after-dinner drink and a perfect complement to aged cheeses and fruity desserts. We age this ale for months before it touches a bottle, but, if you have the will power, it will improve for years to come.

Pours a hazy golden orange color with a 1.5 finger frothy white head that slowly settles into a thin lasting ring. Spotty lacing left behind. Slightly earthy, spicy aroma with lots of estery fruit notes. Subtle barnyard earthiness with grass and hay hints along with peppery spice, especially corriander. Decent malt presence along with sweet booze and light fruit. Medium bodied but on the fuller end with lots of tight carbonation up front. Slightly earthy with subtle grassy hops which compliment the dry spiciness. Peppery with some coriander maybe grains of paradise. Very dominant overpowering the other notes and lingering into a boozy, dry finish. Decent malt backbone adds fullness to palate. As it warms sweeter fruit notes emerge with hints of orange peel, tangerine, apple and light berries. The Abv is decently masked with a decent amount of booze-heat in the finish but not too overpowering. Decent but way too heavy in the spices for my liking and not all that complex.

750ml bottle from Pick’s poured into my Chimay Trappist glass. Pours an almost clear, beautiful golden orange with a small bit of white head. Aroma of straw, banana and something sweet. Taste is medium sweet. Alcohol, some straw and banana. Medium bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, very good. Something I will definitely drink again.

Bottle thanks to a generous name who’s name escaped me. Pours a hazy gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma is quite sweet with sweet grains and fruits as well as a hint of a floral note. Flavor is similarly sweet with sweet grains backed by light fruits and a bit of a floral note.

Nice aroma of sweet honey malts and golden fruits. The taste is that of a sweet and peppery tripel, some golden fruits and honey, but nothing that makes it stand out.

Bottle from ’09 as a very generous extra. This pours golden orange with a big off white creamy head. The aroma is amazing - like a fresh spring morning or moist jungle in the nose with hints of Belgian yeast. The flavor is sweet and malty on top of a full body with rich flavors of fruit, but nothing specific as described

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours vibrant yellow-gold with a sturdy, white head. Plenty of spices, Belgian yeast and sugary fruits on the nose. Some nice coriander, clove, candi, malt, alcohol and banana. Full bodied with strong carbonation. Sweet, warming finish with lingering Belgian character and spice. Very nice.

Bottle (a nice one at that). Textbook pour -- bright yellow and active, with a bountiful fruity aroma. Rich with an earthy, yeasty undertow, this beer hides its 10% fangs well, drinking with a nice, light fruit-salad appeal. Kick-butt "light" beer -- introduce your non-beer-drinking friends to this one. (#4012, 11/7/2010)

750ml Bottle: GUSHER! Aroma of Belgian yeast, malt, fruit, coriander, light spice, light clove, and slight citrus. Poured yellow/gold in color with a large, creamy, dense, white head that greatly diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Very sparkling. Full of tiny, small, medium, large, and huge-sized particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, Belgian yeast, alcohol, light coriander, light clove, and a hint of hops. Medium body. Average texture. Average to lively carbonation. Belgian yeast, coriander, alcohol, clove, and malt finish is lightly dry. 10%ABV is present and hot in the flavor.
