Golden clear appearance. Sweet cherry and strawberry malt aroma, a little grainy as well. Sweet crystal malt flavor, really too much so. Not much beyond that. Bitter and dry bready finish. Ok.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Braudog (4473) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - MAR 30, 2003
Well ambered with an excellent head. Understated caramel with light hopping and a pleasant sweetness. Very good.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 thedm (4116) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 20, 2003
This rating was from the Hop In The City event where brews from the previous year were sampled (5 oz) by the attendees from kegs. This brew poured a very small head of fine to large sized white bubbles that quickly disappeared. It left behind a transparent orange brown colored body. The aroma was that of mild caramel malt and if it was stronger would probably have gotten a nice rating. The mouthfeel was smooth and the flavor was anothe typical mild malt hop one.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 phaleslu (3182) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - SEP 20, 2010
Draft sample at Hop in the City 2010. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of Munich malts, caramel, toast, nuts, and peppery hops. Flavor follows suit for the most part, and the commercial description of a light, malty Oktoberfest is exactly what I’d say about it. Light-medium bodied, with a malty mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Sessionable.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Strykzone (2906) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - APR 12, 2008
Medium brown color with a nice white head. Plenty of hop and some unroasted barley. A bit of hop as well. A light Octoberfest? Well, maybe without all the spices. This one is more straightforward. Enjoyable.

Mellow, malty and quite interesting. One of my favorite Schlafly brews. Very drinkable - a session brew.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 vyvvy (2798) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - APR 19, 2008
Pours light copper with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet caramel that is very clean with good toast and hazelnut traits. The body is clean, crisp and light with sharp carbonation. The taste is spot on with the aroma along with some spice showing up on the finish. This is quite good for the style.

tap-hop in the city 05-i didn’t take much notes for this one since it was on the final pour of the day. pours amber with a small white head. big caramel malt aroma with a faintness of german funky yeast. good sweet malt flavors with a tinge of apple notes. not much hops to speak of. true to style here!
