COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our 2010 Barleywine, aged for over a year and a half in new oak barrels (our regular Barleywine is normally aged for a few months on oak chips) The result is a very oaky smooth rich ale, with lots of plum/raisin notes that come from long term aging in barrels.

Tasted at the Tap Room. It poured a light chestnut color with a small tan head. The aroma was of fruit, with spices and a hint of herbal hops. The taste was very balanced throughout with some mild chocolate, toffee, fruit and a mild pale malt flavor. A great barleywine that goes along with the others Schlafly has created. Mighty tasty.

Pours tawny brown that has a bit of milkiness and a small tan head. The aroma has lots of oak, rich toffee, heavy dark fruit (dates and figs prominent), English barleywine yeastiness, some alcohol and some port character. The body is rich and full with some slickness and some mellow sharp carbonation. The initial taste has lots going on with the big dark fruit, some spice, bits of vanilla, sherry, alcohol and must thick barleywine malt. The finish is rich and has heavy rustic oakiness, lots of phenols and warming alcohol. An excellent winter warmer.
