Stifter Bier.

Draught at Universitätsbräu. Clear, wine red body, with small, creamy, white head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruits. Taste with the same aromas, a bit watery. Mouthfeel is medium to light, with a medium carbonation and it finishes light, with roast and fruit notes. Nothing special, pretty boring, but easy to drink.

33cl bottle from trade with Sebilinz, thanks! Pours clear light amber colour with a mid-sized good lasting off-white head. Aroma of red malt, caramel and some metallic hops. Taste of toasted malt, nuts, caramel, mild hops, okay!

At Unibrau , Vienna , under the pompous name of Universitätsbräuhaus Unibräu ALT-Bier. Awful. Metal ,malt and vinegar flavour.

August 15th, 2013 - Third and final in the Schlagl trio of beers I picked up from the local store is the Red Ale, which true to form, and with abundant honestly, pours a deep red color, and props up a finger height of foam. The flavor is thinner and less sticky than the other two Schlagl brews, but similar in its wealth of caramel and apple flavors. The apple notes are crisp and clean, not bogged down in under-attenuation, and a touch of raspberry brings an additional fruity shine to the brew. The nose reflects the flavor - clean and bright with fresh apples.

Draught. Dark amber Body with very fast disappearing small tan head. Aroma is malts with caramel and some honey. Taste is nearly the same with hints of herbs. Aftertaste is malty caramel with hints of bitterness. O.K.

Bottle. Pours copper with an off white head. Sweet crystal malt, toffee, bready notes, and light earthy notes. Not horrible, I guess.

bottle @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Sweet malt aroma - agreeable. Clear dark amber, head cover, swirls of lace. Taste is sweet caramel malt that moves without change through the palate before adding very light bittering for the finish. A very unassuming brew, but easy to quaff, and good on a 90 degree day.

Bottle from trade with Geiserich. Amber golden color with medium white head. Malty aroma with some bready notes. Taste, malt, honey, mulberries, caramel, hops. Unusual, but tasty.

Poured from a bottle, San Diego. Fruity aroma. I did not like this beer. The taste was overly metallic, and I found it to be a generally marginal beer.

Aroma is sweetish malts, barley/rye bread and a hint of tea. The flavor is medium sweet malts, rye/dark bread, a hint of tea and a tart/slightly tangy finish. Apart from the rye/dark bread notes it was very similar to an American Amber.
