Bottle from Systembolaget Bavarian six pack. Pour dark mahogany brown, with a beige head that lingers frothy but settles, Aroma is german malty and grainy, much more in the style of a light beer, not much of the typical roasted tones there. Nice taste, full of delicious münchermalt without being overwhelming, like it is so often today. One of the best Dunkel’s I’ve had. Excellent beer!

Pours dark brown from the bottle and leaves a creamy head. Aroma is nutty, caramel, very much typical for the style. Taste is sweet. The light bitterness has a roasted note. Finish is rather bland and the light bitterness feels off. Not exactly metallic, but also not exactly pleasant. Fairly light bodied. I would have preferred a slightly more robust profile. Decent.

33 cl. bottle @ the apartment in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, bought @ a local supermarket. Clear dark brown worth a small off-white head. Malty caramel aroma. Sweet taste with some metallic notes. Bit one-dimensional and boring.

Maker: Schlappeseppel (brewed at: Eder & Heylands Brauerei), Grossostheim, Germany *** Beer: Schlappeseppel Dunkel (bottled, 500ml) *** Style: Dunkles *** ALC.VOL.: 5.2% *** "The Aschaffenburg Dunkles, steeped in tradition, fresh and lively, brewed with extra dark malts." [brewery note, my translation] *** Colour: Dark mahogany, slightly transparent, with a big, frothy beige head. *** Nose: Brown bread, caramel, faint roasted malts. *** Texture: Medium bodied, still quite watery, moderate carbonation. *** Taste: Mild roasted malts, caramel are dominant at the start. Slightly sweetish. Hints of coffee. Towards the middle a tiny wee bit of hops, but still almost no bitterness. That changes in the finish, which has coffee malt, moderately bitter. Aftertaste is caramel and brown bread again. *** Impressions: Now wholly owned by the Faust Brewery of Miltenberg/Frankonia, I’m not sure their beers are still being brewed at Eder & Heylands. Anyway, this is a straightforward, smooth, easy.drinking dunkles that should satisfy fans of the style. Very malty, very sessionable.

Ambar muy oscura, casi opaca. 2 dedos de espuma tostada. Aroma neutro. Agradable en boca, con buen cuerpo y sabor predominante de café y miel. Muy carbonatada, pero no estropea el conjunto que es muy redondo. Además muy bebible, no cansa en absoluto.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, toasty nose with notes of dark bread, dark fruit, raisins and a touch of brown sugar. Malty taste with dark bread, toasty malt, cereal, a touch of dark fruit, some brown sugar and a fairly modest bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Doesn’t really stand out in any direction, but tasty and well balanced. Quite enjoyable.
