2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 VAAC (86) - Middlebury, Indiana, USA - MAY 18, 2011
Was excited to see what all the hoopla was. Turns out, it’s generic American lager. Boo-urns.
Smells like bread with some slight must, and something sweet I can’t name. Tastes like beer, lol. It just... exists.
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Tac (85) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - FEB 16, 2012
Pours big white head, golden yellow color. Quite fizzy. Very light smell of malt and corn. Taste bit of grain and corn, with grassy scent. Medium bitterness.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 aaronhaywood (74) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - MAY 9, 2009
Not bad for an old style american lager. I wish I was alive in the 60s to see some of the other beers that gave Budweiser a run for their money. I’ll be honest, I would gladly drink this again. Very refreshing and drinkable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20 felsenpils (56) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 16, 2009
It tastes like Schlitz. Wow, what a surprise! A good American lager, no noticeable flaws. The only thing is that I cannot see, smell or taste anything different about this Schlitz. But whatever, it´s a good beer for a hot summer afternoon.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 StLsportsfan (50) - Hazelwood, Missouri, USA - APR 15, 2011
Drank straight from the bottle to improve the taste. I’ll concur (steal) someone else’s comment; this is what macro beer should taste like. It isn’t "good", but it is pleasant and drinkable....especially cold (so it doesn’t have so much flavor). And it has a cool label.
0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 ByTheGlass (41) - USA - MAY 17, 2010
Tried one of these not too long ago. No big deal, tasted cheap. This was the beer of men who wore Timex watches, lit Camels with a Zippo lighter and carried a .38 In those days, if you heard your phone ring, it was because you were either in or near the house. It wasn’t on your belt. Try this stuff for a retro experience.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 wildbillvms (41) - , Illinois, USA - JUL 12, 2009
tried this 2 different times YEARS ago !
I think there was just something bad both times? Like Beyond skunking...
Anyway.... I seen this in bottles in my local liquor store and said ’ I’ve gOT to try this" one more time ! Well , I think I might have a NEW favorite for a while...
It says on the packaging " 1960’s recipe "
I definately give it a thumbs up !
I would describe it as kinda like budwieser with a shot os sam adams...
A definate light hops taste , no after taste. I don’t care for sam adams, it gets sickening after 3-4
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20 BeefPocoroba (41) - Oregon, USA - DEC 5, 2010
This beer is better than Budweiser, but that isn’t saying much, but that’s all I can say about it. We weren’t missing much when the original recipe got thrown out the window 50 yrs ago.
2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 milwaukeebeer (39) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAR 19, 2012
Usual macro aroma but poured into a pint glass forming a decent head. Lacing surprised me. Hops and yeast dominate the taste and the finish is clean with a mild hoppy aftertaste. I will drink a few of these on a hot day.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 GemalzteGerste (33) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 3, 2010
It’s not supposed to be a microbrewed IPA or Stout, so you can’t rate it as such. One of the most refreshing and best tasting pale lagers money can buy. If you’re thirsty, go for the gusto!
