5/12/13. 40oz bottle from Unclerudy... traded a Hunahpu’s for this bad boy. Well, he’ll get one eventually, hopefully. I hate people sometimes. Anyway, for a likka, this one really isn’t awful. I think that’s basically because it’s only 5.9%, so it’s pretty much just a strong pale lager or premium lager of sorts. Black Crown? If it weren’t for brewer’s intent and marketing, I bet RateBeer would change the style listing on this bad boy. It is severely lacking in the grape/sugary/fusel/etc. category of likkas. It is however a shitty pale lager. Or whatever. I don’t know. It’s not fucken awful. I could chop wood with it.

Big ass 40 @ home, courtesy of blackipa. Thanks bro! Pours a clear golden appearance with a white head. Grape drank, cotton candy, fruity, corny nose. A bit skunky, fairly sweet fruity, cotton candy flavor. Drinks decent, I guess.

Canned, 0.50l. Clear deep golden color with thin white head. Aroma is artificial, floral with notes of alcohol and corn, not really pleasant. Taste starts sweet malty, followed by exotic fruits or flowers. Mouthfeel is syrupy with strong alcoholic note. Light to medium body, sticky texture and soft carbonation in palate. Ahhh, bullpiss...

Side by Side with the regular blue OML. The picture for this one is wrong, clocks in at 5.9% just like the OML. Also, this is a by the book malt liquor, not a pale lager. Very light yellow with a small white head. Almost zero head retention on this one. Sweet candy aroma, almost like it would be in the 8% range. Some corn, a bit of soy, and just a touch of tootsie roll. Plum and grape round this one out. Minimal carbonation in the finish for the style. Not sure which one I like better. This one does NOT pair well with Jalapeno chips but the OML does, Edge goes to OML.

40 pours watery clear gold with loose off white head. The aroma is what’s expected as corn flakes mixed with caro syrup covered apples and chemical booze bubble up out of the paper bag covered glass. Hmm. The taste is watery thin and has a watery neutral taste now and then too. The flavor follows the nose notes with corn, estery fruitiness, sweetness and chemical booze. All of these notes are thin and luckily that makes them rather timid too. If you must drink this it really does help if it is near freezing cold.

Wino fuuuuuuuuuuuel puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurchased at the local wino grocery ("New York Deli") in Cincinnati, Ohio - It’ tastes watery, but is potent... feh!

You know what you’re getting into as soon as you see this beer. Light, corn, grass, alcohol.

Picked this bad boy up at the LCBo. Let me tell you this was purchased with nothing more in mind than, it was a big can and i had only so much change left. It tasted exactly as expected. I’ll give you a hint, not very good. CORN.

I was very happy with this cheap beer. Pretty good taste for being a discount beer, I recommend it for sure.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2010 Well, I think Schlitz Original Malt Liquor is better than this particular variety (they both have 5.9% alcohol), but this Red Bull Xtra Long Malt Liquor does have some interesting aspects. It has a medium, white head, and a clear, golden color. Carbonation is medium. The taste is somewhat bitter and strong. It can be hard to take. Mouth-feel is moderate. This has a semi-crisp finish. Unlike other malt liquors, this one has no fruity notes to it. I’m not sure if I necessarily like this, but I can respect its harshness. I do like to have something different in the common beer realm from time to time. I say it’s certainly worth a try. I drank this one poured from a 24 oz. can. RJT
