Basic adjunct lager with a bit of extra malt and grain in the bill. Not a great beer, but a good buy. A little cheaper than your BMC and little more taste. It’s not going to blow anyone away, but based on it’s reputation, you’d think it was undrinkable. It’s not undrinkable. Busch is undrinkable. Schlitz is fine if you’re on a budget or want a pale adjunct lager. Must have changed things up from the days when the brand got ruined back in the day.

Bottle. Revived formula. Taste is the old timey lager taste from years ago. Aroma is hay, straw and weak. Appearance is golden with a good head.

16 oz can proclaims "classic ’60s formula", implying that the quality was worse or less popular in recent decades. Pours a clear pale yellow with a quickly disappearing fizzy white head and a little lacing. Aroma is grains, corn, a bit of cardboard and the faintest of hops - it tries to be inoffensive. Taste is slightly sweet but hardly noticeable. Body is light with noticeable carbonation. This was the first beer I ever tried back in high school when the jazz band director wanted to get drunk with his students. I’m not sure if it’s any better than my first revolting taste of it, but it still serves its purpose.

UPDATED: MAY 30, 2013 On tap at the unnamed arcade bar in Fort Collins. Pale, golden and clear with a small white head. The aroma and flavor is sweet malts and corn. Light body with a thin soft feel and a sweet finish. Not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

"Tall Boy" into pilsner glass. Light pale yellow color with foamy white head. Aroma of corn, sugary grainy malt, hay and light hops. Taste is pale malt sweetness with the slightest hop bitterness. Light body, fizzy, watery, inoffensive, refreshing. Price is right, under $1 for 16oz. Okay lager.
