COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Since 2001, contract-brewed for Pabst Brewing (San Antonio), as Pabst no longer owns a brewery of its own. The old time Schlitz purchased from Strohís which was purchased from Joseph Schlitz. Different than Schlitz Malt Liquor.

There is also a listing for "Schlitz Classic 1960s Formula". Please note version, and rate in the appropriate entry.

This stuff actually tasted good, smooth, and sweet for 5 or 6 cans, and then the "hops" strange as it may sound, turned into a pukey-burnt sort of flavor. And that wierd fact alone causes the bad rating. even though this is billed as the beer that made Milwaukee famous, I have heard citizens of Milwaukee proper preferred PBR over the Schlitz in a big way. I can see why.PBR is definitely the better old MIL cheap-ass Macro.

This was recently brought back to South Carolina with the "Classic 60s Formula" tag removed. Was the recipe changed again???tastes of sugary malt, corn, and barley. It does not taste like the great beer I had 2 years ago which was Schlitz Gusto.

This is what I drank as a teenager in New York when I didnít know better, couldnít afford anything else, and didnít have much choice. Typical boring lager.

Again, drank a lot of this in college before developing a real palate. Gold pour with skunked grains on the nose and palate.

Bottle from old backlog notes 07. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a medium sized white head. Typical sweet grainy, corn, light grassy aroma of macro pale lagers. Moving on.

onceblind (4964) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAY 28, 2014
Page crystal golden with a bubbly head like cola. Inoffensive pale malt aroma. Inoffensive pale malt and light wheat flavour. Dry, sorta refreshing, very light bitterness. I feared it would be worse, however this is actually ok. Better than BMC, for sure.

Clearish goldn pour, small bright white head. Sour rubbery lager yeast aroma, hint of citrus rind and cream. Average carbonation, thinner but bubbly mouthfeel, dry finish. Taste is grainy and every so slightly sweet, no detectable bitter. Easy tasting decent american lager.

Headbanger (3472) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 16, 2014
12oz bottle (Old Notes)-Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of corn, grains, and malt. Taste of grains and malt. This light bodied brew was the thing in the past.
